It also prohibited \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/big-pharma-funded-researchers-churn-out-biased-studies-promoting-gender-transitions-for-children\/\" title=\"Big Pharma Funded Researchers Churn Out Biased Studies Promoting Gender Transitions for Children\">gender-affirming medical treatments<\/a>\u201d for minors.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-3\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px; text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-3'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>The vote was 23-to-9. Now, the measure will take effect in \u206390 days.<\/p>\n<p>After the state House voted to\u2062 overrule the veto transpired earlier this month, Ohio \u200dhas \u2064now joined almost two dozen other GOP-led states that have\u200d adopted laws of a similar nature.<\/p>\n<p>However, during public hearings last year, hundreds of opponents, including the president of\u200c Ohio\u2019s\u2062 Children\u2019s Hospital Association, spoke against House Law 68. LGBTQ groups, medical\u2063 professionals, and families of transgender children have generally denounced the law.<\/p>\n<p>GOP Senator\u2062 Nathan Manning (R-Ohio) from North Ridgeville, Ohio, was the only member \u2062of the GOP to vote against the override, with twenty-four \u200dRepublicans supporting it.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cDespite what the liberals say, gender is not \u200cassigned \u2062at birth, but rather from the\u200b moment of \u200dconception, you are either male or you are female,\u201d\u200c Senator Kristina Roegner (R-Ohio). \u201cThere is no such thing as gender-affirming care. You can\u2019t affirm something that doesn\u2019t exist.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On December 29<sup>th<\/sup>, DeWine vetoed House Bill 68, \u200btelling reporters\u200d at a\u2064 news conference that if the bill were to become law, it would cause\u200c \u201cmore harm than benefit.\u201d <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cUltimately, I believe this is about protecting human life,\u201d \u200cDeWine said. \u201cMany\u200d parents \u2062have told me that their child would not have survived\u2014would be dead today\u2014if\u200b they had not received the treatment they received\u200c from one of Ohio\u2019s children\u2019s hospitals.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Nonetheless, it was revealed\u2064 by <em>The Federalist Papers<\/em> outlet that DeWine has received a number of large donations from hospitals that specialize in or offer transgender medical treatments and surgery.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cA review of donations from 2018 to 2023 reveals that\u00a0the governor received a total of $40,300 from\u200b the Ohio Children\u2019s Hospital Association (OCHA), Cincinnati Children\u2019s, Nationwide Children\u2019s Hospital,\u200b and ProMedica\u2064 Children\u2019s Hospital. \u200cThe OCHA donated \u2062$10,000 to \u2062the Mike DeWine and Jon Husted Transition Fund on December \u206428, 2018, and another $10,000 on \u200dDecember\u2063 7,\u200b 2022, according \u2062to the report. This transition fund allows candidates to spend donations \u2062for \u201ctransition activities and inaugural celebrations,\u201d as outlined in Ohio\u2019s campaign finance handbook. Affiliates of\u200d OCHA, \u2063such as \u200dCincinnati Children\u2019s\u2063 and ProMedica, also made significant contributions. Cincinnati Children\u2019s donated\u2062 $300 on Dec. 15, 2022, \u2064and ProMedica, another affiliate of OCHA, donated $10,000 in December 2018. Nationwide Children\u2019s, a third affiliate \u2064with OCHA, donated $5,000 \u200cin December\u200c 2018 and another $5,000 in January 2023 to the transition\u2062 fund,\u201d <em>The Federalist<\/em> \u200d reported.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cincinnati \u2062Children\u2019s Hospital and Nationwide Children\u2019s Hospital provide \u201cgender-affirming\u201d treatments, such as cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers, and reportedly do not have explicit age restrictions for their patients. <\/p>\n<p>However, \u2063in a news conference on December 29<sup>th<\/sup>, \u2063DeWine\u2064 claimed\u2063 that it is \u201cfrankly, a fallacy\u201d that such medical procedures are being\u200d carried out on children in Ohio.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" data-placeholder-image=\"https:\/\/c3.oann.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/complianz-gdpr\/assets\/images\/placeholders\/twitter-minimal.jpg\" class=\"cmplz-placeholder-element twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Oh, and would you look at that! The first was Republican Governor Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, a failed 2024 presidential contender.<\/p>\n<p>DeWine has also refrained from making any comment \u2062or \u200cexpressing his support for the bill\u2019s prohibitions on transgender student-athletes. However, he did express his opinion that these issues are \u201cbest addressed outside of government\u201d in a statement from 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Only three Republican governors, including \u2064DeWine, have vetoed legislation \u2063that prevents \u200ctransgender\u200d athletes from participating on\u2063 school sports teams that correspond to whatever gender they \u2062wish to identify as. Nonetheless, many \u200dparents\u200c of female athletes and the female athletes themselves have argued that by allowing transgender girls, who have \u2064a\u200b clear physical advantage in athletics since they are biological men, to \u2063compete with biological women, we are taking collegiate scholarships and opportunities away from \u201creal women\u201d in an attempt to\u2064 uplift gender\u200b dysphoric men. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>According to <em>sciencedirect.com<\/em>, \u201cthe\u2062 term \u2018gender dysphoria syndrome\u2019 was [first] proposed \u2062in\u00a01973,\u200b which includes transsexualism\u200b in\u2062 addition \u2063to other gender identity disorders\u2026.\u201d However, \u200dfrom 2012-2013, \u201cthe American Psychiatric Association revised its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and \u200cit [now] no longer \u2064lists being transgender as a mental disorder,\u201d according to <em>The National Institute of\u200c Corrections<\/em>. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Stay informed!
