It\u2019s also the highest amount recorded since Chicago\u200b began recording crime online in 2001.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As car thefts reached an all-time high,\u2062 the \u200dcity\u2019s arrest rate for motor vehicle thefts reached a historic low\u2062 of 2.6%.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Texas also saw a\u2064 heavy increase in car thefts.\u00a0Dallas reported a 40% increase of more than 18,000 incidents.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Police in Austin have investigated 10,234 car thefts \u2064since\u200c January of 2022, averaging with \u2064an \u200carrest rate of 8%.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>San Antonio also saw a 53% spike.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Oakland, California saw its highest number of car thefts in over a decade.
