If we fail in\u2063 that objective, any and all wins we \u200csecure the next time we win\u200b at the \u200cballot box will be erased by the next Democrat \u200badministration. It will happen immediately and by executive order and other \u2064means, as it did virtually on\u200c the first day of the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1704414687\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-32d9b7ab13139cf04e1a560c3f9c1a68 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-32d9b7ab13139cf04e1a560c3f9c1a68\"><\/div>\n<p>Out of concern for second- \u200dand third-order consequences, I\u2019m typically wary to \u200brecommend \u201csilver bullets\u201d when it comes \u200cto\u2062 policies for addressing national issues. But I believe that chopping down the administrative state is as close to a swift and enduring fix as we\u2019ll have for righting the ship of state.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ruled by Regulation<\/h2>\n<p>Most Americans believe that legislation passed by Congress is what has screwed up our daily lives, from education to health care to the exorbitant price of gasoline to the outrageous cost of groceries. That\u2019s not surprising, because we\u2019re taught in \u200dmiddle school\u2064 and high school that the legislative branch makes the \u201claws\u201d that govern the nation. Yet it\u2019s even less surprising when you consider that public\u2064 education is a government-run indoctrination cartel \u2014 one designed to mask\u200d the reality\u2064 of American government in the 21st century.<\/p>\n<p>The reality is that \u200blaws don\u2019t\u200d rule our lives. Rules and regulations do, and they are practically devised out of whole cloth, implemented, and enforced \u2063by unelected bureaucrats in virtually countless departments and agencies within the executive branch. \u200b(I say countless because there\u2019s no consensus as to the number of entities, but most estimate in the <em>hundreds<\/em>.) My wife and I served in the Trump\u2062 administration. For almost two years, we witnessed with our own eyes the bureaucrats brazenly acting as a \u2064fourth branch\u200b of government, and an\u200c essentially unaccountable one at that.<\/p>\n<p>A skeptic might retort, \u201cBut they\u2019re not \u2018unaccountable.\u2019\u201d Yes, a president\u200d is elected, and that individual oversees the 2.1 million bureaucrats in the executive branch. Plus, those bureaucrats \u2014 \u201cthe civil service\u201d \u2014 are supposed to be apolitical. Well, they\u2019re\u2062 not. They took \u201chostile work environment\u201d\u200b to some very weird places for\u2063 President Trump\u2019s appointees. What\u2019s more, the president is only able to deploy \u2064between 7,000 and 9,000\u2062 appointees across the \u200dvast expanse of the executive branch.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7163c9637b14d422833ff03b447dabcd fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7163c9637b14d422833ff03b447dabcd\"><\/div>\n<p>What does this all mean? Alas, it means that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/last-time-democrats-took-gop-presidential-nominee-off-the-ballot-was-1860\/\" title=\"Last Time Democrats Took GOP Presidential Nominee Off the Ballot Was 1860\">presidential elections won<\/a> \u200dby \u200cRepublicans mean far less \u200bin \u2063terms of change. I wouldn\u2019t go so far as to\u2063 assert they\u200c are \u201cpointless,\u201d but it\u2019s certainly trending in that direction. I\u2019ll put it another way. Democrats who capture the\u200b White House don\u2019t \u201cpush on\u200d an open door\u201d regarding the administrative \u200cstate and advancing their \u2063agenda. There isn\u2019t even a door within the frame. There are only gleeful bureaucrats on the other side waiting to provide hot-stone massages to the\u200d commander in chief and his appointees. A Republican, however, who somehow manages to outsmart the deep \u200cstate and gain access to the White House will be pressing against a triple-bolted, plate-steel vault door reinforced by concrete.<\/p>\n<p>This is a DEFCON 1-level crisis for our system of government, and, by extension,\u2062 our way of life. \u200bBureaucrats,\u200c whether through the \u201cinteragency\u201d or some other contrived mechanism,\u2063 must no longer be able to fashion and effect policy independent of the president, the head of the branch in \u200bwhich they exist.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abolish the Pendleton Act<\/h2>\n<p>Congress will never muster the will to abolish the Pendleton Act of 1883, which birthed the civil service. The Supreme Court, on the other hand, is now in a position to \u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/01\/17\/how-disgruntled-fishermen-could-prompt-scotus-to-capsize-the-administrative-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">limit the scope of or overturn<\/a> <em>Chevron<\/em> \u2062deference,\u200c which, through delegation to \u2062the executive\u200c branch, \u2062has supercharged rulemaking at the direct\u2063 expense of lawmaking for nearly 40 years. Regardless, on day one of the next Republican administration, the president has to be prepared to sign executive orders to\u200b defang, if not destroy, this fourth \u2064branch of government, which functions \u200cin the shadows of the swamp and has managed to avoid genuine scrutiny \u200cfor decades.<\/p>\n<p>A starting point would be the resurrection of\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov\/presidential-actions\/executive-order-creating-schedule-f-excepted-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Executive \u200bOrder 13957<\/a>, signed by President Trump on Oct. 21, 2020,\u200b and\u200d revoked by President Biden on Jan. 22, 2021, which created a\u2064 new category of federal\u200d positions: Schedule F. Moving \u201cpolicy-determining,\u2064 policy-making, or policy-advocating\u201d career employees into the category would have made them answerable to the president and thus more accountable to the American people.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8c867e622e1dbb8f6d88177995f181d1 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8c867e622e1dbb8f6d88177995f181d1\"><\/div>\n<p>On the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ocasio-cortez-fires-back-after-biden-rejects-proposal-to-cancel-50k-in-student-loan-debt\/\" title=\"Ocasio-Cortez Fires Back After Biden Rejects Proposal To Cancel K In Student Loan Debt\">presidential campaign trail<\/a>, GOP candidates have spoken a lot about prospective policies pertaining to national security, energy, the economy, health care, education, and immigration. True, there have been\u2062 calls to eliminate \u200ddepartments and \u200dagencies. Yet there has been too little discussion about comprehensively and systematically \u200dneutralizing these entities by attacking their foundation: the Pendleton\u2063 Act.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s been talk here and there over \u200cthe past few years of combatting the administrative state by cutting it up into pieces and shipping its\u2064 parts out to different areas of the country. (\u201cLet\u2019s put the Department of \u200cAgriculture\u200b in Iowa because it produces a lot \u200cof\u200d corn. Also, we could staff it with <em>normal<\/em> people who live out there.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>This is \u2062wrongheaded. Virtually \u2063anything \u2064the government touches goes sideways. Once a government \u2064entity lands, corporations, universities, and nonprofits rush in to seal their lips to\u2062 the spigot of federal \u2063dollars. The strategy seems to come straight out of the left\u2019s playbook as the government always makes conservative\u2063 areas less conservative. This is why Tallahassee, Florida\u2019s \u200dcapital, is the bluest spot \u200cin the Sunshine State, which is \u200dotherwise markedly red.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Monitoring \u2062the\u2064 Swamp<\/h2>\n<p>Along these lines, \u200cPresident Trump \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/111670965436830340\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">proclaimed<\/a> on Truth Social that the\u2063 new FBI building \u2064should be built neither in Virginia \u200dnor Maryland but right in the same spot where it sits today. He argued that the FBI \u201cshould be involved in \u2062bringing back D.C., not running\u200d away from it, \u2063especially the violent crime.\u201d There\u2019s an additional reason to keep our country\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/about\/mission\">large and \u2062complex<\/a>\u201d enforcement agency based within \u200bthe District of Columbia. D.C. isn\u2019t a large place. It\u2019s physically limited by the Potomac and Anacostia \u2064in the south and \u200bMaryland in the north. It\u2019s much better to have the \u200dadministrative state contained in one place for ease of\u2062 monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>I want to\u200d be clear. There is indeed a role for \u200dcivil servants who carry out the everyday tasks of government. That\u2019s not at all to demean those tasks, let alone the people responsible for them. It\u2019s merely to say those tasks are procedural. There should, however, be no\u200b role for civil servants who operate autonomously in the executive branch. There never should\u2064 have been one in the first place. The \u200dnotion \u2062of a \u2062\u201cprofessional\u201d civil service that would \u200bbe neutral was \u2063rooted from the outset in\u2063 progressivism, specifically in an unadulterated faith in rationalism. It denies the intractable flaws of human nature. It\u2019s also patently absurd according to Civics 101, not\u2064 to mention a certain piece of parchment.<\/p>\n<p>The mission of the next Republican president is \u2062straightforward:\u2062 Make\u2062 our government accord with the Constitution once more, and right away.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1b7cc11e83f38481809dd350552d4ad6 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1b7cc11e83f38481809dd350552d4ad6\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How can the\u2064 Pendleton Act be addressed and\u2062 what role does it play in the administrative \u200bstate<\/h2>\n<p><span>  \u2063 Often considered a Republican stronghold.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>If conservatives genuinely want to restore our constitutional system of government\u2062 and protect the principles upon which our nation was founded, we must confront and \u200ddismantle the administrative state. This\u2064 shadowy fourth\u200c branch\u2063 of government,\u2063 comprised \u2064of unelected bureaucrats who wield immense power and operate independent of the president, poses a \u2062grave \u200dthreat to our democracy. It is through this branch that countless rules and regulations, which often have a greater impact on our daily lives than legislation passed by Congress, are formulated and enforced.<\/p>\n<p>To effectively address this threat, the next Republican administration\u2064 must make it their highest priority to shrink the scope and scale of the executive branch. By slashing the power \u2064of unelected bureaucrats and \u2062reestablishing the authority of the \u2062president, we can begin to restore balance and accountability to our government. This will require decisive action, such as signing \u2064executive\u200d orders to defang and dismantle\u200d the administrative state.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, we must also reconsider\u200b the Pendleton Act and its implications\u2064 for the civil service.\u2062 While it may be challenging to abolish this\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-delivers-flood-of-cheap-migrant-labor-to-new-york\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Delivers Flood of Cheap Migrant Labor to New York\">long-standing law<\/a>, the Supreme Court could limit its scope and curtail \u2062the deference given to executive branch rulemaking. Additionally, resurrecting Executive Order 13957, which created a new category \u200cof\u2064 federal positions accountable to the president, would provide greater transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n<p>To truly address the administrative state, we need \u2064a comprehensive and systematic approach. Merely relocating government entities or cutting them into pieces \u200bwill not suffice.\u2064 We \u2062must focus on attacking\u2064 the root of the problem by neutralizing the Pendleton\u200b Act and reestablishing the authority of the\u2063 president over the executive branch.<\/p>\n<p>If we \u200dfail to take strong\u200d and decisive action\u2063 against the administrative\u2063 state,\u200c any victories we achieve\u200d at the ballot box will be \u2063quickly \u2063erased by the next Democrat \u200cadministration. This is a critical moment for the \u2062future of our \u2062democracy and our\u200d way of life. It is \u2062time\u200d for conservatives\u2064 to unite in the fight against bureaucratic overreach and reclaim our \u2062constitutional system of government.<\/p>\n<p>Only through dismantling the\u2063 administrative state can we ensure that\u2063 our laws are crafted by elected representatives accountable to the American people.
