That\u2019s \u200bwhat \u2063will close off the northern and the southern borders,\u201d said Haley.<\/p>\n<p>Last weekend, Haley told reporters the United States would \u201cdo whatever it takes to keep people out.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe will\u2064 do a wall,\u201d Haley said. \u201cWe will\u200c do any sort\u200c of Border Patrol \u2063that\u200c we need \u2063to have on there. Whatever it takes to\u200c keep people out that \u2062are illegal from coming in, we will \u200ddo it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Before dropping out \u2063of the GOP race late last week,\u2064 Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) told voters \u2062that he would spend more money on \u200dbolstering border security at the \u200cnorthern boundary.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans\u2019 growing concerns about the northern border come\u2064 as more\u2063 than 8 million people have been encountered by federal law enforcement at the southern border in \u200bthe three years since President Joe Biden took office, more than any\u200c other period in \u2063history.<\/p>\n<p>In fiscal 2023,\u200c which ended last September, Border\u200d Patrol agents \u2063arrested\u200d 2.05 million people\u200b who walked\u2062 across the southern border compared to 10,021 at the northern border.<\/p>\n<p>The 10,021 figure was 11 times higher than fewer than \u200c916 in 2021 and the highest number on\u2063 record since 2002, when 10,487 immigrants were arrested up\u2063 north, according to publicly available federal\u200b data.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In just\u2062 the last two months (Oct.\u2062 &#038; Nov.), Swanton Sector Border Patrol Agents have apprehended\u200c 1,850 subjects from 43 different\u200b countries,\u200d surpassing the number of\u2062 apprehensions in Fiscal Years (FY) 2021 &#038; 2022 combined.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Early exiting on polling Tuesday showed\u200b immigration was \u2064a top concern for \u200bNew Hampshire GOP\u200b primary voters.<\/p>\n<p>Haley contended during a CNN town hall event last Thursday that terrorists were being arrested at the northern border more \u2064than at the southern border.<\/p>\n<p>Federal data confirmed her point in certain contexts. Across the southern border in 2023, 169 immigrants who were \u200dcaught while\u200c trying\u200b to\u200b enter by \u2062walking around the ports of\u2063 entry were determined to be on the FBI terrorist watch list versus three similar incidents across the northern border.<\/p>\n<p>However, the situation was \u2064reversed at the ports\u200b of entry, which include seaports, land ports of entry, and airports. Across northern border ports, customs officers caught 484 terrorist watch-listed individuals compared to 80\u200c down south.<\/p>\n<p>Gov.
