Though the precinct only has six voters, it has become \u2064a closely watched batch \u2062of \u200bvotes as\u2063 they will be the official first primary votes cast in the primary.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3><strong>Excitement Builds as \u200cDixville Notch\u200c Prepares to \u200bCast First \u2064Primary Votes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cIt started actually in 1960 by Neil Tillotson, who was\u2064 the owner of the Balsams Resort,\u201d\u200b Turcotte said, referring to a\u2064 resort\u2064 that\u2063 she\u2019s now the part owner of. \u201cHe started the tradition of voting \u200bat midnight \u2062and it\u2019s very \u200cexciting because it\u2019s the \u2064first \u2062in the nation\u200c primary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though\u2063 Haley is just one of two \u200ccandidates remaining after Florida Governor\u2064 Ron DeSantis dropped out of \u200dthe race over the weekend, she is\u200b viewed as a long shot to prevail over former \u200cPresident Donald Trump,\u200b who won a commanding victory\u2063 in the Iowa caucuses and remains ahead by wide margins in the polls. Haley \u2063is hoping that a strong performance in New Hampshire, where she\u2019s been \u200dboosted by \u2062an endorsement from Republican Governor Chris \u200cSununu, could\u2064 push her back into contention.<\/p>\n<p>Turcotte, \u2064who\u200d voted for Trump in the 2016 Republican primary, said she believes it\u2019s time for \u2062new leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did support him and I\u200d do believe\u2064 that he did a\u200d lot of great things for \u2064our country and I think that in a lot of ways, by a lot of measures, we \u2064were in very good shape \u2063under Trump\u2019s \u200bpresidency,\u201d she said. \u200d\u201cWe\u2063 appreciate his \u2064strengths, but we \u2063also know his weaknesses \u200cand I think that his presidency, which was supposed to make\u2063 America great\u2063 again, also \u2062made America\u200c hate again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe that someone like\u2063 Nikki \u2064Haley can\u2064 get down \u2064to the work that needs to be done and do more \u2062uniting,\u201d \u200dshe \u2062added.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_684975\" style=\"width: 442px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-684975\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Turcotte with Haley \/ Courtesy of Turcotte<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Turcotte said \u200cshe\u2019s \u2064worried \u200cabout war possibly being \u200don the horizon and wants steady leadership to avoid conflict.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe possibility of World War III is\u2062 real \u2062and I think,\u200b I would\u2064 ask Trump supporters why he appointed Nikki Haley to be our\u200b ambassador to the United Nations,\u201d Turcotte said. \u201cI think that\u2019s because he knows that she has\u2064 what it \u200ctakes to be\u200d an \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-campaign-pressed-about-trump-outpolling-the-president-as-an-effective-world-leader\/\" title=\"Biden campaign pressed about Trump outpolling the president as an 'effective world leader'\">effective world leader<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Turcotte added\u2064 that she is \u2063also concerned that if \u2064Trump wins the nomination, he will lose to President \u2064Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that there\u2019s \u2062a lot of support for President Trump\u200c in this \u2062state,\u201d she said. \u201cI also know that there\u2019s\u2063 a lot of people who do not support Trump, and \u200bI\u2019m very concerned that the people who don\u2019t support Trump, if he\u2063 gets the nomination, they will vote for Biden, and we \u200bcan\u2019t have that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2020 Dixville Notch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/02\/11\/dixville-notch-votes-michael-bloomberg-113844\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">voted\u2062 for<\/a> former New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg in the Democratic primary.
