Josh Hawley, R-Mo., sent a letter\u2064 to Homeland \u2062Security \u200dSecretary Alejandro Mayorkas condemning the department\u2019s $700,000 grant to an activist left-wing group. \u200b According <\/a>to \u2064The Daily Wire, DHS deployed counterterrorism resources \u201cto pay activists to write blog posts<\/a> that\u200d criticized Donald Trump and other \u2064conservatives under\u2064 the guise of \u2018media literacy.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYour \u200cDepartment \u2064has consistently weaponized the federal government to attack conservatives using\u200b taxpayer \u2064dollars, first by colluding with private social media \u200bcompanies to censor conservative viewpoints<\/a> and now by funding private actors to create\u200d affirmative \u2064propaganda to \u2018counter\u2019 conservatives,\u201d Hawley wrote Wednesday. \u201cAll these funds should be clawed back by the federal government immediately, and\u200b anyone\u200b involved in making this grant should be\u200b fired.\u201d<\/p>\n
