The bill aims to gradually phase out tackle football for California youth, starting \u200bwith kids under 6 in 2025, then kids under 10 in 2027, and\u2064 finally all \u2063children under 12 in 2029.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While the ban on \u200ctackle football for kids under \u206212 \u200cgained support among \u200cCalifornia Democrats, Governor Newsom\u200c made it clear on Tuesday that he would not sign the bill if it reached his desk, as reported by ABC\u2062 10.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>\u201cI will not sign legislation that bans youth \u2062tackle football,\u201d<\/h3>\n<h3>Newsom said. \u201cI\u2063 am deeply concerned about the health and safety of our young athletes, but an outright ban is not the answer.
