I had been convinced\u200d that \u200dprogressivism was inevitable, but for the first time, I\u200b began to doubt that assumption.<\/p>\n<h3>2016 Outsiders on the Right and Left<\/h3>\n<p>The political revolution I was part of reached its\u200d peak with Sen. Bernie Sanders&#8217; 2016 presidential campaign. Sanders\u2063 garnered significant support from Gen Z and younger Millennials, thanks to \u200bhis bold, leftist policies addressing social justice, climate change, and income \u2064inequality. His authenticity and candidness resonated strongly with young voters.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Donald Trump&#8217;s popularity among young Republicans \u200breflected a desire for\u2064 change and a rejection of establishment politics. Secondly, the shift from \u2062television to social media\u2062 as a primary\u200b source of political consumption has created opportunities for lively politicians like\u200b Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Vivek Ramaswamy to capture the attention \u2063of young\u2064 Americans.<\/p>\n<p>These animated and \u200cradical political figures fulfill a desire\u2063 for entertaining politics and a longing for profound change in\u2064 our modern world.
