Unlike the last time, we actually got the results of the voting the same night. We\u200c didn\u2019t have to wait weeks while officials in Iowa explained to us that they had somehow designed a voting app that can\u2019t actually count votes. So that\u2019s progress. And\u2062 as \u200cexpected, Donald Trump won \u200doverwhelmingly. As of this moment, he\u2062 appears to\u200c be the clear frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination. Just like in 2016, Trump is leading in pretty much every poll in every state. In fact, he\u2019s doing better this time than he\u200b was in 2016.<\/p>\n<h3>A Unique \u2064Moment in American Politics<\/h3>\n<p>From a historical perspective,\u2064 this is a unique moment in American politics. It\u2019s rare for a former\u200d president to run for office again, and have a serious chance of winning. It\u2019s only happened a handful of times in the \u2064history of\u2062 this \u2064country.\u200b And that leads to some\u200d quirks in the process. Here\u2019s \u2062one of them: We\u2019re starting to see \u200dthe same attacks against Donald Trump that\u200c we first saw all the way back in 2016. Even when these attacks\u2064 make\u2064 absolutely \u200bno sense eight years later, they\u2019re trotting \u2063them back out.<\/p>\n<h3>The &#8220;Nuclear Codes&#8221; Narrative<\/h3>\n<p>You might remember that in 2016, the big concern about Trump was that\u200b he \u2062supposedly couldn\u2019t be trusted with the \u201cnuclear codes.\u201d Joe Biden and\u200d Hillary Clinton and pretty much every mainstream\u2064 leftist\u200d publication and television program repeated the line. Republican candidates were asked about it on the debate\u200c stage, and some of them agreed with the\u2063 framing. Marco Rubio (R-FL) in particular kept saying\u2064 that giving Trump the nuclear\u200c codes was dangerous. Then Trump became president, and needless to say he didn\u2019t\u2064 launch the nukes. And after four\u2064 years, he left office. And\u200c no\u200c one\u2062 ever talked about \u2063the whole \u201cnuclear codes\u201d narrative ever again. There was no reckoning\u200b over all of that fear-mongering. No\u2064 one ever apologized for it. It was just a mass panic based on complete nonsense\u2063 that was memory-holed as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<h3>The \u200cNew Attack: Trump and the\u200d Military<\/h3>\n<p>But\u2064 now Donald \u200dTrump is \u2063back on the ballot. And because his political opponents\u2064 aren\u2019t terribly creative,\u200b we\u2019re once again hearing a slightly \u2064warmed-over version of the old hits. This time, instead of warning about \u200dnukes, the concern \u200cis a little more general. Now they\u2019re saying that if Trump wins in November, then he\u2019s going to do some non-specific\u2064 but \u2064very bad things with the military. This headline comes to us from\u200d NBC News, which as usual,\u200b is laundering the talking \u2063points of intel agencies and the Defense Department: \u201cFears \u2062grow that Trump \u2063will use the military in \u2018dictatorial ways\u2019 \u200bif he returns to the White House.\u201d Specifically, according to NBC News, \u201cDonald \u200bTrump is \u200bsparking fears among those who understand the inner workings of the Pentagon that he would convert the nonpartisan U.S. military into the muscular arm of his political agenda as he makes comments about dictatorship and \u200cdevalues the checks\u2062 and \u2063balances that underpin the nation\u2019s two-century-old democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The Flawed Argument<\/h3>\n<p>So to reiterate, \u201cpeople\u2062 who understand the inner workings of \u2064the Pentagon\u201d are the brain \u200ctrust behind this article. But it\u2019s not really clear who these people are. It\u200c could mean current Pentagon officials. Or maybe it means retired Pentagon officials. Or maybe it\u2019s just people who think \u200dabout the Pentagon all the time. NBC News doesn\u2019t say. \u2064But they do say we should trust these anonymous experts \u200dwhen\u2064 they predict that Trump will \u201cconvert the nonpartisan U.S. military into the muscular \u200darm of his political agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The Partisan Military<\/h3>\n<p>There\u2019s a lot to unpack there. For one thing, the military \u200bisn\u2019t nonpartisan anymore. That\u2019s why they can\u2019t recruit anyone. They\u2019ve spent so long demonizing white males \u200bfor political reasons that they can\u2019t \u2062even\u2064 meet their recruiting goals anymore. The data\u2019s clear on this. According \u200dto Military-dot-com, the Army \u2062was\u2062 able to \u200brecruit 44,000 whites in \u20642018, \u200cbut only recruited 25,000 whites last year. This is\u200c by far the \u200dbiggest decline of any demographic group, \u2063and it\u2019s happening in every\u200c branch of the armed services. It\u2019s a big part of the reason the Army, Navy and Air Force couldn\u2019t hit their recruitment goals last year. This happened because the military became explicitly political. They started whining about \u201cwhite rage\u201d and \u201csocial justice,\u201d \u2064and recruiting girl boss \u2064fighter pilots\u200c and trans admirals. \u200cAnd at the same time, \u2064they terminated anyone who refused to take \u200bthe COVID shot. \u2062They started investigating every member of the military for potential \u200dlinks to \u201cfar-right extremism,\u201d which they never defined. The point of the whole \u200bexercise was to implement a political purge, to ensure that the military is loyal to \u200cthe Biden administration. And for the most part,\u2063 it worked.<\/p>\n<h3>The Deep State Plot<\/h3>\n<p>But \u2064they have to lie about this, just \u200dlike they lied \u200cabout the nuclear codes in 2016. And the reason for \u200dthe lie is the\u200c same. Just like in 2016, the point of\u2063 the slander\u200b is to delegitimize the Trump \u2063administration and lay the groundwork\u200c for undermining it from within. Eight years ago, all the \u200bwarnings\u200d about Trump\u2019s \u2062\u201cinstability\u201d \u2063and the \u201cnuclear codes\u201d gave the F.B.I. an important pretext to launch an indefinite investigation into \u200bhis \u2063campaign. And we know how that turned \u2063out. If you convince millions of Americans that\u200b Trump wants to be a dictator \u2014\u200c a willing servant of Putin \u2014 then it\u2019s a lot easier \u2064to justify illegal wiretaps of his campaign.<\/p>\n<h3>The Media&#8217;s Role in the Plot<\/h3>\n<p>The only \u200bdifference is that back in\u2062 2016, no one admitted\u2062 any of this out\u200c loud. Now they\u2019re \u2063just coming\u200d out and saying it. From\u200b the \u200dNBC News article: \u2063\u201cNow, bracing for \u2062Trump\u2019s \u200dpotential return, a loose-knit network of public\u200d interest groups and lawmakers is quietly \u2064devising plans to try to foil \u200bany efforts to expand presidential power, which could\u2062 include pressuring the military to\u200c cater to his political needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The Need for Change<\/h3>\n<p>So it\u2019s pretty clear after last night that the corporate press and their allies in the\u2064 intelligence agencies won\u2019t change their strategy. But it\u2019s\u2063 also clear by extension that, if Donald Trump wants any\u200b chance of actually governing\u2064 this country, he\u2019s going to have to change his. He\u2019s going \u200dto have to command the \u2062military, instead of\u2062 allowing the military to command \u200dhim. He\u2019s going to have to get rid of the prosecutors and the bureaucrats\u2064 who\u2063 have spent the last \u2062four years trying\u200c to \u2064imprison his\u2063 supporters. And he\u2019s\u2064 going to have to\u2063 stop making any \u200deffort to get these people to like him, whether they\u2019re at\u200d the New\u2064 York Times or NBC or anywhere else.<\/p>\n<h3>Giving the Fear-Mongers What They Fear<\/h3>\n<p>If Donald\u2064 Trump becomes president \u2014\u200b and after last night\u2019s results in Iowa, it\u2019s \u2062looking extremely likely \u2014 then he only \u2063has one option. This\u2062 time around, he\u2019s going to have to give these\u2064 fear-mongers precisely \u200cwhat they fear.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How does\u200d the\u200b article challenge the\u2063 narrative that Trump is a dangerous dictator who\u200b will abuse his power and use the military for his own political agenda?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Pular narrative is that Trump is a dangerous \u200ddictator who will abuse his power and use the military to further his own political agenda. \u2064This narrative is not based on any evidence\u200c or \u200cfacts, but rather on fear-mongering and political propaganda.<\/p>\n<p>The reality is that Trump has never shown any inclination to use the\u200d military in dictatorial ways. In fact, he has been focused on rebuilding and strengthening \u2064the military, increasing \u2063defense spending, and \u2064supporting our troops. He has also been hesitant to \u200bengage in military interventions abroad, preferring instead\u2064 to\u2064 prioritize American interests and bring our troops home.<\/p>\n<p>The idea that Trump will convert the military into his own personal army is simply absurd. The \u200bmilitary is a\u200b professional and disciplined \u2063institution that operates under strict rules \u2064and regulations. It is\u2062 not \u200ba partisan organization and is committed to\u200c upholding the Constitution \u2062and serving the American people, regardless of who is in \u2064the White House.<\/p>\n<p>The fact \u200cthat this baseless narrative is being promoted by mainstream media outlets\u200c like NBC News is deeply troubling. It is indicative of the bias\u200d and propaganda that\u200c permeate our media landscape. Rather \u2063than engaging in thoughtful analysis \u200dand reporting, these outlets\u200c are more \u200dinterested\u200c in pushing their \u2064own agenda and promoting fear and division.<\/p>\n<p>It is important for the American people to see through these false narratives and think critically about the information they are being presented with. We cannot allow ourselves to be manipulated by political propaganda and false fear-mongering.
