That didn\u2019t\u2064 stop the\u2063 anti-gun press, which were not welcome at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/desantis-signature-tips-us-majority-constitutional-carry-nation-new-florida-gun-rights-law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the signing<\/a>, from claiming that <a title=\"George Becomes 25th State to Adopt Permitless Concealed Carry\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/george-becomes-25th-state-to-adopt-permitless-concealed-carry\/\">permitless concealed carry<\/a> would exacerbate shootings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing mass shootings, DeSantis signs permitless carry bill,\u201d one NBC News headline complained. In the article, the producer \u2064of \u201cThe Rachel Maddow Show\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/rachel-maddow-show\/maddowblog\/mass-shootings-desantis-signs-permitless-carry-bill-rcna77952\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sneered<\/a> at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for trading what he dubbed \u201cmodest gun safeguards\u201d\u200c for an \u201cextreme\u201d and \u201ccontroversial\u201d \u200dlaw.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alisondurkee\/2023\/03\/06\/desantis-and-florida-gop-poised-to-take-up-controversial-bills-on-trans-rights-education-gun-ownership-and-more-as-new-session-begins\/?sh=46df590919a1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forbes<\/a> also \u2062amplified rhetoric from gun\u200c control groups including Giffords claiming the pro-Second Amendment law is \u201cdangerous\u201d and \u201cwill drive gun\u200c violence \u2062up and further\u200d jeopardize the safety of our families and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even President Joe Biden\u2019s White House\u200b joined the dogpile \u2064on DeSantis and Florida Republicans \u2064for daring \u200cto reinforce their constituents\u2019 constitutional rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is shameful that so soon after \u200banother tragic school shooting,\u200d Florida Governor \u200bRon\u2062 DeSantis signed into law a permitless concealed carry bill \u200cbehind closed doors, which eliminates the need to get a license to carry a concealed weapon,\u201d White House Press Secretary\u2062 Karine Jean-Pierre <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PressSec\/status\/1643024926503231488?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cThis is\u2064 the opposite of commonsense gun \u200csafety. \u2064The people of\u2064 Florida \u200b\u2014 who have paid a steep price \u2064for state and Congressional inaction on\u200b guns\u2063 from Parkland to \u2062Pulse Nightclub to Pine Hills \u2014 deserve better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, more than six months after the law\u2019s adoption, evidence contradicts Democrats\u2019 fearmongering that\u2063 <a title=\"More Lies on Concealed Carry and Violence\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/more-lies-on-concealed-carry-and-violence\/\">allowing <\/a><a title=\"California Sheriffs Tell Newsom They Won't Enforce COVID Curfew\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-sheriffs-tell-newsom-they-wont-enforce-covid-curfew\/\">law-abiding citizens<\/a> to \u200bcarry a loaded gun for self-defense would result in more \u201csenseless tragedies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since\u2062 the legalization of constitutional carry in July 2023, Florida\u2019s \u200cbiggest cities saw\u2062 a \u2064significant decrease in violent\u2064 crimes,\u200d including \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallahassee.com\/story\/news\/local\/state\/2024\/01\/02\/florida-mass-shootings-2023-comparison\/71883678007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shootings<\/a>. In \u2062Jacksonville, murders and homicides <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2024\/01\/03\/most-jacksonville-neighborhoods-saw-fewer-killings-in-2023-one-zip-code-spiked-by-32\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dropped 6 percent in \u200c2023<\/a> from the previous \u2063year.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2062 real record-breaking reduction in homicides was recorded in Miami. In 2022, the municipality recorded 49 homicides. By 2023, that number was down to 31, the fewest number\u2064 of killings \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/3yBE4#selection-1571.185-1571.287\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ever recorded in \u2063the Magic City<\/a>. Miami also reported \u200ba 34 percent drop, from 151 to 100, in non-fatal shootings and 124 fewer \u201cnon-contact\u201d shootings than in 2022. The change \u200dmirrors a national trend in less violent crime in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Florida\u2019s \u200bconstitutional \u200dcarry law may\u2064 not be the sole reason for those numbers, but this is the exact \u200dopposite of what Democrats claimed would\u200b happen after the law passed. Indeed, it\u2019s fair to suspect respecting citizens\u2019 \u200dconstitutional right to self-defense played a role in the crime decline. Good guys with guns can deter, prevent, and even stop crime. The legal use of firearms helps thwart \u2064an \u200bestimated <a href=\"https:\/\/scholarlycommons.law.northwestern.edu\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?article=6853&#038;context=jclc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2.5 million crimes a year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Studies \u200bshow that constitutional carry \u200dlaws like the one in Florida <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usconcealedcarry.com\/resources\/gun-facts-and-fiction\/concealed-carry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">don\u2019t cause<\/a> legal gun \u2062owners to commit crimes like mass shootings. This\u2062 decrease in violent crimes goes against the narrative pushed by opponents of the constitutional carry law.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the\u200c law did not lead to \u200dan increase in accidental shootings or instances of law-abiding citizens misusing their firearms.\u2064 Florida already had a robust background check system in\u2062 place when purchasing firearms, and this\u2063 did not change with the implementation of constitutional carry. Individuals who were previously prohibited from owning firearms\u200b still cannot legally possess them.<\/p>\n<p>The argument\u200c that the law would make it easier for criminals to obtain firearms is also debunked by the facts. Criminals\u200d who wish\u200d to obtain firearms do \u2062not typically go through legal \u2063channels to do so. They often acquire firearms through illegal means, such as theft or the black market. The \u200cconstitutional carry law does not change the strict penalties in place for illegal\u2063 possession or use \u2063of firearms.<\/p>\n<p>Opponents of the law \u2064also claimed that it would make law\u2062 enforcement officers&#8217; jobs more dangerous. However, there has been no\u2064 evidence to support this claim. Law enforcement agencies were consulted during the drafting \u2063of the law, and proper training guidelines were put\u2064 in place\u200b to\u2064 ensure that officers can differentiate between\u200d law-abiding citizens and potential threats. In fact, many \u200claw enforcement officers have expressed support \u2062for constitutional\u200d carry, as it aligns \u2062with the Second Amendment rights of\u2062 citizens.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that\u200d constitutional carry does not mean that individuals can carry firearms wherever and whenever they please without any restrictions. The law still prohibits carrying firearms in certain locations, such as schools, government buildings, and private property where firearms are not allowed. \u2063Additionally, the law does not remove the responsibility of gun owners to\u200d handle their firearms safely and responsibly.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, the fearmongering surrounding Florida&#8217;s constitutional carry\u2064 law \u200bhas \u2062been proven unfounded. The \u2062implementation of this law has not\u2064 led to an increase \u200din violent crimes or\u200c accidental shootings. Instead,\u200d it has \u2063allowed law-abiding\u200c citizens to exercise their constitutional \u2063rights and protect themselves and their loved\u200b ones. The reduction in\u200c violent crimes in Florida&#8217;s biggest cities shows that <a title=\"Mo. state lawmakers push forward 2nd Amendment protections\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mo-state-lawmakers-push-forward-2nd-amendment-protections\/\">responsible gun ownership<\/a> can contribute to a safer society.
