The answer is\u200b simple \u2014 absolutely not.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The \u200dterm\u200d \u201cgenocide\u201d was originally \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facinghistory.org\/ideas-week\/where-did-word-genocide-come\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coined<\/a> in 1944 by Jewish-Polish\u2062 lawyer\u200c Raph\u00e4el\u200d Lemkin \u200din his book \u201cAxis Rule in Occupied Europe.\u201d Lemkin created the term as a response to\u200b the systematic killing of \u200bthe\u2063 Jews in Nazi occupied\u200c Europe. He \u2063chose the \u200cGreek \u200bprefix \u2018genos,\u2019 meaning race, \u2063and the \u2062latin suffix \u2018cide,\u2019 which means killing.<\/p>\n<p>So,\u200d to\u200c claim the only Jewish \u200cnation in the world\u2063 \u2014 \u2064formed by \u2063Holocaust \u2063survivors \u2014 is carrying out the same crime that befell its ancestors just\u200d eight decades ago is something that should not\u2064 be taken lightly.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Intent and Israel&#8217;s Conduct<\/h3>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/en\/instruments-mechanisms\/instruments\/convention-prevention-and-punishment-crime-genocide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Article II<\/a> of the United Nations\u2019 Convention on the Prevention and \u2064Punishment of the\u200b Crime\u200c of Genocide, the term is defined as a group of acts \u201ccommitted with\u200b intent to destroy, in whole or in\u2062 part, a national, ethnical, racial \u200bor religious group.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All it \u200dtakes is a single word\u200b in that definition to establish their innocence,\u2062 \u201cintent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A\u2062 quick glance into Israel\u2019s conduct in Gaza shows they have no intention of \u200beradicating the Arabs who live there.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As Israeli Defense Forces combat Hamas, a terror organization who purposely embeds themselves in\u200c hospitals and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-concerning-foreign-policy\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Concerning Foreign Policy\">civilian areas<\/a> to use the \u200dgeneral population \u200cas\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-and-european-government-leaders-slam-icc-investigation-into-israel\/\" title=\"U.S. and European Government Leaders Slam ICC Investigation into Israel\">human shields<\/a>, they take countless steps to save as many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dozens-gather-to-remember-17-lives-lost-in-parkland-shooting\/\" title=\"Dozens gather to remember 17 lives lost in Parkland shooting\">innocent lives<\/a> as\u200b possible. For example, before an airstrike occurs, Israel often sends <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idf.il\/en\/mini-sites\/the-hamas-terrorist-organization\/how-is-the-idf-minimizing-harm-to-civilians-in-gaza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">warning \u200dsigns<\/a> to civilians in the\u2063 strike zone. These signs include roof knock \u200bwarning bombs, leaflet \u200cdroppings, direct phone calls, and even complete abandonment of \u200dstrikes they can\u2019t clear out in time. One could\u2063 argue that \u2064no nation\u2064 on earth does more \u200cto prevent \u200charm to civilians, because doing so can ultimately\u2064 compromise the effectiveness of the operation.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Casualty Count \u2063and Historical Examples<\/h3>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag_NP\/status\/1744384492180021458?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">common\u200b argument<\/a> made by critics, especially in response\u2063 to the aforementioned point, is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-embassy-alert-tells-americans-not-to-travel-to-airport-nearby-explosions-reported\/\" title=\"U.S. Embassy alert tells Americans not to travel to airport, nearby explosions reported\">casualty count<\/a> coming\u200c out of Gaza.\u2063 Before addressing it directly, it should be understood that the number, \u2064which is now reportedly over 20,000, comes \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/scrippsnews.com\/stories\/gaza-health-ministry-says-at-least-23-469-palestinians-killed-in-war\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">from<\/a> the Hamas-run\u200d Gaza Health Ministry. Hamas is a terror organization who purposely \u2063places their own civilians in harms way, so their numbers \u200cshould be taken with \u2064not \u200bonly a grain, \u2063but a truckload of salt. Taking Hamas at their word is comparable to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/world-nation\/story\/2022-03-04\/la-fg-russia-ukraine-military-casualties\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trusting<\/a> the Kremlin to give\u200b accurate figures for the number of Russian \u200bcasualties sustained in their \u2064current war.<\/p>\n<p>If the numbers are accurate, however, it \u2062is important to understand a\u200d high casualty count does\u2064 not equate to genocide. During\u200b World War \u200bII, the United States and\u2064 Britain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-europe-51448486\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">carried\u200c out<\/a> a joint bombing campaign against Dresden, Germany. While\u2063 their overall \u200cgoal was to defeat the Axis powers, 25,000 people \u2062died as a result of \u200bthe \u200dcampaign. To this\u200b day, \u2062the bombing of Dresden is\u2062 not \u2063considered a genocidal act\u2064 and rightfully \u200cso.<\/p>\n<p>Another example from World War II are\u200b the\u2063 atomic bombings of Hiroshima\u200d and Nagasaki by the \u2062United States. The damage caused\u2062 by these \u200boperations was so extensive, \u200dhistorians\u200c have never\u200d been able to produce a concrete casualty count. <a href=\"https:\/\/thebulletin.org\/2020\/08\/counting-the-dead-at-hiroshima-and-nagasaki\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Some\u2063 estimates<\/a> place the figure around 110,000. Despite the soberingly large figure, America never went on trial for \u2063genocide against the Japanese because\u200c (similar to Israel) they never showed any intent to\u2064 wipe out an entire race.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Many \u200dcritics of South Africa\u2019s actions at the U.N. have responded by criticizing them in return. British author and \u2062commentator \u2064Douglas \u2063Murray <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/preposterous-douglas-murray-rips-south-africa-for-accusing-israel-of-genocide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a>, \u200d\u201cIts government is profoundly anti-Semitic, has been anti-Israel for years.\u201d\u2064 He also said they,\u2063 \u201c\u2026 always do this sort of thing to try to sort of distract attention among their \u200bown population from the \u200dfailings of their own government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Pennsylvania\u200d Democratic Senator John Fetterman has shown a surprising willingness to differ from his party by openly defending Israel.\u200d At a luncheon hosted by the Orthodox Union, Fetterman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/sit-this-one-out-fetterman-blasts-south-africa-for-accusing-israel-of-genocide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criticized<\/a> South Africa by saying \u2063they should \u201csit this one out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Israel is not committing a\u2063 genocide in Gaza.<\/strong> For\u2062 almost two decades they have worked tirelessly to defend\u2063 their citizens from Hamas\u200c and other terrorist organizations. At\u2064 any point, Israel\u2019s superior military\u200c could have wiped out \u200ctheir enemies in the Gaza Strip, but they haven\u2019t. The population in Gaza,\u200d on the other hand, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrotrends.net\/countries\/HRV\/palestine\/population-growth-rate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grown<\/a> \u2064consistently at an unprecedented \u2063rate. To label it as genocide oversimplifies\u2062 the situation and\u200b fails \u2063to acknowledge the\u2063 complexities and nuances involved.<\/p>\n<p>In \u200cconclusion, the accusation that Israel\u200c is committing genocide in Gaza is unfounded and lacks evidence. Israel has consistently shown\u200b its commitment to protecting innocent civilian lives, even\u200d in \u2062the face of a terrorist organization that deliberately puts its own people at risk. It is crucial to approach \u2064this \u2062issue with a balanced and \u2063nuanced perspective, taking into\u200c account \u200cthe historical context and complexities involved.
