But while greedy kids of yesteryear \u2064added a\u200b bunch of overpriced toys to their lists, teens and \u200deven\u2063 pre-pubescent girls today are asking for items\u2064 better suited to women in their 30s and\u200d 40s.<\/p>\n<p>The reason for this has almost everything \u2062to do with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/conservative-charged-with-election-interference-for-social-media-post\/\" title=\"Conservative charged with election interference for social media post\">social media influence<\/a>. While teens have always been highly susceptible to peer pressure,\u2064 thanks to the advent \u200bof apps like Instagram and TikTok, those social circles have widened to include the entire world.<\/p>\n<p>This phenomenon \u2064has curiously pushed pre-teens \u2062and teens into a world far beyond their years. Now instead of asking for glittery Caboodles makeup cases, they\u2019re demanding Dior lip oil (which costs $40). Instead of heading to stores like Justice or Aeropostale for age-appropriate basics, they\u2019re plunking \u200ddown their parents\u2019 credit cards at Lululemon.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s\u200c hard to overstate the power of social media\u2019s\u200c influence on teenage consumers. The company\u2019s 40\u200b ounce\u200b insulated tumbler was initially a flop when it debuted in 2019\u2062 to the point that it was\u200d temporarily discontinued. Then, thanks to the cup being promoted \u2062on \u200da mommy \u2062blog and\u200c the introduction of some fun new colors, that single product has \u200cspurred the company\u2019s profits from\u200b $70 million in 2019 to $750 million in 2023, as \u200dThe Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/limited-edition-valentines-day-stanley-cups-cause-chaos-at-target-sell-out-in-minutes\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the January release of a limited edition pink Stanley cup at Target, people camped out overnight with the intention of getting their hands \u2063on one of these coveted cups. There were \u200blong lines and some \u2062fights for the Stanley, which unsurprisingly sold out in minutes both in stores\u200b and online.<\/p>\n<p>Teens are just\u2064 as enamored by this\u2063 $45 cup as everyone else, which is why the Australian\u2062 schoolgirl\u2062 included it on her list. And she wasn\u2019t the only one.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE \u200bDAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A Today \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/food\/trends\/stanley-cup-craze-rcna132901\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> on the Stanley craze\u200d featured a TikTok video of a \u200bvery young girl crying\u200b tears of joy upon unwrapping her new cup.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c same article\u200d mentioned a story about TikTok user Dayna Motycka saying she purchased a cheetah \u200cprint insulated tumbler \u2063from Walmart as a Christmas\u200d gift for her 9-year-old daughter, but the little \u2062girl came home \u201cupset\u201d\u2063 when her peers \u201cmade sure to let her know\u201d that it wasn\u2019t a \u201creal\u201d Stanley cup. The girl\u2019s \u2063classmates told her the\u2062 cup was\u2062 \u201cfake\u201d and \u201cnot as cool.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo I think that\u2062 a nine-year-old needs a Stanley? No. Do I have\u200c one? Yes, I \u200dhave one,\u201d \u2062Motycka said in the video. \u201cI don\u2019t have 50 Stanleys in all different colors. I\u2019m \u200cnot going to Target and fighting\u200c other women or moms to try \u200dand get\u200c the new Valentine\u2019s\u2062 Day Stanley. I have\u2063 one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, she did buy her\u200b daughter the \u200bname brand insulated tumbler.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan we afford to buy her\u2062 a Stanley? Yes. Did \u2063I think that she needed one? No,\u201d she said. \u201cApparently\u2064 I\u2019ve been proven \u2063wrong by the\u200d children in our school that are making fun \u2063of\u2063 her for \u200dnot having a real name-brand Stanley.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Stanley obsession is\u200c silly \u2064and frivolous but is also\u2063 arguably harmless. Who really\u200b cares\u2062 if a\u200c bunch of teens are enamored with overpriced beverage holders?<\/p>\n<p>That may \u200bbe true, but some \u200csocial media trends resonating with teens have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nashville-police-finally-address-leaked-images-of-covenant-school-shooters-manifesto\/\" title=\"Nashville Police respond to leaked images of Covenant School shooter's manifesto.\">potentially harmful consequences<\/a>.\u200b For example, a Federalist <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/01\/06\/how-tiktok-killed-the-preteen-era\/\">report<\/a> about \u2064how TikTok killed the preteen era\u200d mentions that many of\u200b these\u2063 young girls are using skincare products made for much older women. \u200cThis may\u2062 not matter when it comes to lip gloss, but it\u2019s a big deal when these\u2064 girls start regularly experimenting with products such as \u2064chemical peels.<\/p>\n<p>The article points\u200b to a now viral \u200cTikTok video featuring a nine-year-old customer shopping for\u2064 Babyfacial, a chemical exfoliant from the brand Drunk Elephant. The product claims \u2062to minimize\u2063 \u201cthe look of pores, fine lines, and wrinkles.\u201d The little girl said she used the item \u201cdaily.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_680925\" style=\"width: 874px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-680925\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dan Kitwood\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Sephora employee who made the video also mentioned how she has seen \u2062\u201c15-year-olds\u2026 com[ing] in with \u200cchemical burns\u201d while working there.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also the much more worrying TikTok trend which\u200b includes young girls diagnosing themselves with\u2064 serious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/covid-19-pandemic-drives-record-breaking-number-of-drug-overdoses\/\" title=\"COVID-19 Pandemic Drives \u2018Record Breaking\u2019 Number Of Drug Overdoses\">mental health conditions<\/a> by observing others on\u2062 social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat they are doing\u2063 is they are going into the interactive media space \u200cto soothe\u200b themselves, \u2062to make themselves feel better, to make themselves the master of that\u200c environment\u2062 when\u2064 they don\u2019t feel that\u200c they\u2019ve mastered the environment of\u200c the outside world,\u201d Dr. Michael Rich, director of the\u2064 Digital Wellness Lab at Boston Children\u2019s Hospital, said of this new trend, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/social-media-mental-health-self-diagnosis\/\">CBS News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a demand that\u2019s being filled \u200dby people \u2063now. The\u2064 question really is,\u200d is how well and how safely\u200b is it being filled?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s online is a free-for-all. There really is no accountability for this and there is no responsibility taken,\u201d Rich added.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no coincidence that the rise of TikTok has \u2063coincided with an absolute explosion in very\u2063 young children experiencing Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria.
