Robert \u200bE. \u2062Lee, \u200cPresident Theodore \u200cRoosevelt, Christopher Columbus, and the \u2063Confederate Memorial at\u2064 Arlington, a New \u200dYork\u200d Times columnist\u2064 even suggested that the father of our country be ripped off like a filthy Band-Aid and \u200dtossed.\u2062 But it was the founder\u2062 of Pennsylvania, William \u200bPenn, who resisted and won.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The\u2062 National Park\u2063 Service\u2063 planned \u200bto remove Penn\u2019s statue in Philadelphia\u2019s Welcome Park to\u2064 make it more \u201cinclusive.\u201d The proposal\u2062 sparked\u2064 enough outrage that Pennsylvania Gov. Josh\u200d Shapiro\u200c reversed\u200b track. He took credit for convincing\u2064 the Biden administration to leave the venerable founder alone,\u2063 at\u2063 least for \u200cthe moment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-609269974\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8d9fd200e78c377078bbda49751f3648 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8d9fd200e78c377078bbda49751f3648\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Target William Penn?<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s a definite win, but\u200d it needs \u200dto wake \u200dconservatives into asking the fundamental question: Why do leftists want to remove \u200bPenn\u2019s statue? While Penn owned slaves, he transplanted the Quaker faith \u200cto the\u200b New World, planted the seed of abolition in\u2062 the Americas, and arguably set the stage\u200b for the entire Anglo world to outlaw the institution.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s\u2064 also\u200b the fact that\u200d Penn is just not that well known. Given what education levels are today, it \u2063would be surprising\u200d if\u200c even 50 percent\u200d of Philadelphians under\u2063 45 years old knew \u200dwho he was or \u2064could pick out his\u2064 statue from those\u2062 of Thomas Jefferson\u200d or Daniel Boone. These are people, \u2063after all, \u2062who don\u2019t know we fought\u200c the British in the Revolution and\u2062 cannot say when\u2064 the Declaration \u2064of Independence was signed. How could forgotten, currently meaningless William Penn be such a\u2064 racist, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/talcum-x-threatens-reporters\/\" title=\"Talcum X Threatens Reporters\">white supremacist threat<\/a> that he had to\u200b be memory-holed?<\/p>\n<p>Of course, he\u200b isn\u2019t \u200ba racist,\u200b white supremacist threat. That\u2019s the\u200b unmasked reality. For the longest time, the right has\u200c made the crippling \u2063mistake \u2063of \u2063taking the left at its word.<\/p>\n<p>When it says Confederate\u2064 memorials \u2014 even ones of forgotten, common soldiers and widowed mothers made childless by the war \u200d\u2014 have to be pulled down because they\u2019re salt in the still-festering, spiritual wounds of black Americans, we twist ourselves into pretzels\u2064 to explain why these hundred-plus-year-old memorials have to be chucked in mothballs. When \u200cit claims the \u200crevolution was entirely about protecting slavery and that slaves \u200ccreated American democracy, \u2064our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-this-will-decimate-policing-as-we-know-it-detroit-police-chief-tears-into-george-floyd-justice-in-policing-act\/\" title=\"WATCH: \u2018This Will Decimate Policing As We Know It\u2019: Detroit Police Chief Tears Into George Floyd Justice In Policing Act\">knee-jerk reaction<\/a> is to treat it like an academic conference and not the\u200c deranged fairy tale it is. It never occurs\u2062 to us that <strong>the destruction is the point.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-33b5c70b81e14197e98a00682385211d fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-33b5c70b81e14197e98a00682385211d\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ideas Won\u2019t\u200c Win on\u2064 Their Own<\/h2>\n<p>In\u2064 the case of statues, the left has remembered \u200bthe vital necessity of physical\u2063 environments. The mantra that \u201cAmerica is an\u200b idea\u201d \u2063is a product of \u2064the Cold War. In that context, \u200dit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/brian-kolfage-one-florida-school-combated-covid-by-going-back-to-normal-as-a-result-the-children-and-teachers-are-safe-and-happy\/\" title=\"Brian Kolfage: One Florida School Combated COVID By Going Back to Normal \u2013 As a Result the Children and Teachers Are Safe and Happy\">made sense<\/a>. \u200bInternational communism was a philosophical system, never mind \u2064its Titanic-sized Swiss-cheese \u200choles, and it called\u200d for an oppositional philosophy. The problem\u200c is that it was too successful. It helped\u200c defeat the USSR, but\u2062 it also convinced us \u2062that only ideas matter.<\/p>\n<p>As long as the right ideas were allowed to have their say,\u2063 the truth \u2064would win\u2064 out,\u2064 the right policies \u2064would be implemented, and the\u2062 right people elected to office. In this unbalanced emphasis on \u2064ideas,\u2064 we \u200chave set aside places as unimportant. \u2063What \u2062does it matter if \u2064the school building is beautiful or not as long as reading, \u2062writing, and arithmetic are properly \u2064taught? \u200cWhat does it matter \u200cif\u200c the \u200boffice \u2063is a prison block or not if the \u200cemployees \u200bwork just as efficiently \u2063either \u200bway?<\/p>\n<p>It matters a good deal, as it turns out. We are \u2064not angels but live in\u2064 bodies, so our\u2064 physical environments are \u2063vitally important. Study after study \u2063has shown that our happiness depends on our ecosystems.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Left Hates Beauty<\/h2>\n<p>We know, for\u200b example, \u200dthat the hippocampal region of \u2063our brains is \u200cwired for the \u200dgeometry and layouts of the spaces we live in. This means\u200d that\u200d the design of towns, cities, and buildings \u2062affects our \u2062overall psychology. We also \u2062know that \u2062beauty \u2064is not something extra we \u200bcan \u200ddigest when we have a \u200cfew spare \u2063minutes. \u2063 <strong>It is \u2063vital \u2062for our well-being<\/strong>. That\u2019s \u200bwhy the designers \u2064and builders of Art Deco strove to make buildings as beautiful as possible in\u200b the 1920s \u2064and 1930s.\u200b And it\u2019s the same reason why classical architecture was the American style\u2063 of \u200dchoice \u200cfrom 1790 to 1950. Beauty\u200b matters.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-066b1e8ed8d00a28ff09324d2dc48bfc fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-066b1e8ed8d00a28ff09324d2dc48bfc\"><\/div>\n<p>The statues\u200c and memorials the left hates \u2064are beautiful.\u200c Google images of Moses\u200b Jacob Ezekiel\u2019s\u2062 memorial \u2064to the Confederacy\u2019s dead, Leo Lentelli\u2019s equestrian \u2062statue of Robert\u2064 E. Lee, or\u200d James Earle \u2063Fraser\u2019s horse-mounted statue of Theodore Roosevelt and see for yourself. \u2063That they\u2062 were beautiful was reason enough for the left to rip them up. As a transcendental essence, it\u2019s a natural enemy of the collective.<\/p>\n<p>But statues\u2062 and\u200d memorials offer more than\u200c beauty.\u2062 Arthur Weigall, an\u200d early\u200d 20th-century Egyptologist, once quipped that the archaeologist\u2019s goal was to bring the\u200b dead to life. Statues and memorials do the same, like all\u200b physical things do. It\u2019s \u200done\u2063 thing to read about Lee and Ulysses S. Grant, \u2064but it\u2019s \u2063another\u2064 thing to see their faces \u200cetched in marble, \u200dLee\u2019s ceremonial sword, \u2062or the little sitting room in\u200b which the South\u2019s surrender took place. It\u2019s the same \u200dreason why, with departed loved \u2064ones, we don\u2019t just\u2063 feed the coals of their \u2064lives\u2064 with words but keep their pictures.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Honoring the Dead Brings\u200d Them to Life<\/h2>\n<p>Bringing our \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/some-orwellian-stuff-newspaper-stealth-edits-stacey-abrams-op-ed-to-soften-pro-boycott-rhetoric-after-mlb-moves-all-star-game\/\" title=\"\u2018Some Orwellian Stuff\u2019: Newspaper \u2018Stealth-Edits\u2019 Stacey Abrams Op-Ed To Soften Pro-Boycott Rhetoric After MLB Moves All-Star Game\">national past<\/a> to life imperils the left because our dead founders, explorers, soldiers, pioneers, artists, and writers are not just \u200bdead figures. In the famous Funeral Oration, the Athenian general, Pericles, \u200btold the Athenians \u2062that the dead they mourned \u200bwere more than just dead heroes. \u201cFor in magnifying the city I have magnified them, and men like them whose virtues made her glorious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dead had\u200c become an integral part of the polis, and the polis was\u200b now part of them because the dead esteemed \u201ccourage \u2064to be freedom and freedom to be \u2064happiness.\u201d The virtue \u2064with which they lived, \u2062which allowed them \u2064to put\u200b everything on the line for their country and to \u200cpay the \u2062ultimate\u200c price for her, had made them greater than \u200bjust mortals.\u2062 The Athenians \u2063were to fix their eyes on the heroes and their \u200bdeeds and strive to mimic their examples.<\/p>\n<p>In the same way, George Washington, \u200cAbraham Lincoln, \u200bLee, Grant, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Boone, Davy Crockett, John Adams, and even Kate Smith and Stephen Foster are all the faces of the\u200d United States.\u2062 Because of their actions, their\u2063 sacrifices, their virtues, and their artistry, they helped make our country \u2064what it used to be.<\/p>\n<p>They all \u2063labored to\u2062 build\u200b up the walls \u200band keep the lights burning and \u200dthe \u200dreflection mirrors polished for John Winthrop\u2019s city on a hill. Their statues are a testament to their lives, a reminder of what they accomplished,\u200c and\u200b a challenge to us. Even more importantly, they remind us of who we are as an American people, a people \u200dthat stretches from 1607 \u2062to the present. These physical markers of our shared past help \u2064to bind us together,\u200d gluing us to history and the \u200cpromise of future generations.<\/p>\n<p>The left cannot tolerate these physical\u200c reminders,\u200c so its soldiers lurch out of bed\u2064 every \u2062morning to destroy our \u200ccountry\u2019s body and spirit. They must erase everything thwarting that \u200bgoal. The \u2063left\u2063 knows \u200cit cannot eradicate all its\u2063 enemies, so it \u2063pushes to\u200b physically \u200bchange our environments, \u200cknowing that if \u200dit changes the ecosystem, \u200bthe life\u2063 within it will have to change \u2064too. It\u2019s\u200c simple biology.\u2062 We \u200cwon\u2019t all become blue-haired freaks bellowing, \u201cFrom the river\u2063 to\u200d the \u2064sea!\u201d But enough of us will become lumps\u200b of mush instead of grizzly bears to make resistance useless. That\u2019s a fate worse \u2063than a purge.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-58bce443b7545351eed9b46af7ebcec0 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-58bce443b7545351eed9b46af7ebcec0\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> What \u200dis the significance of statues and memorials in preserving our history and values, and why do they pose a challenge to the \u200cleft&#8217;s narrative?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Onored.\u201d The left rejects this connection. It rejects the\u200c belief that\u200d the dead can still influence the living, that their \u200dlegacy\u2064 can shape our present and future. \u2062To the left, the dead are relics of an oppressive past, and their memories must be erased.<\/p>\n<p>This is \u200dwhy statues and memorials are \u200ctargeted. \u2064They serve as physical reminders of our history, our heritage, and our\u200c values. They\u200d tell the stories of those who came before us, of the struggles they faced, and the triumphs they achieved. They remind us of our \u200bshared identity and the principles that bind us together as a nation.<\/p>\n<p>But to the left, these reminders are dangerous. They cannot allow the existence of statues and memorials that elevate individuals\u2063 who do not fit into their narrow worldview.\u2063 They\u200d must be\u200d torn down, \u2064erased from\u200c public view, and replaced with symbols that conform to their agenda.<\/p>\n<p>In their \u200bpursuit of this\u200b agenda, the left has waged a campaign to redefine our history, to cast our founding fathers as villains, and to rewrite the story \u2064of our nation. We must resist\u2064 their efforts to erase our \u200chistory, to whitewash our past, and to silence the voices of our\u200c ancestors. We must stand up for our statues and memorials, \u2063for they are not just lifeless objects but living connections to our past. They represent the sacrifices, the achievements, and \u2062the ideals of those who came before us.<\/p>\n<p>So let us celebrate our statues and memorials, not just for their beauty but for the stories they tell. Let us\u200d honor the dead by \u2062keeping their memories alive, \u2062by preserving their legacies, and by passing on their wisdom to future generations. In doing so, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles that have guided us \u2063for centuries and ensure that\u200d our history, our heritage, and our values will endure.<\/p>\n<p>The left may\u200b have encountered a roadblock in their crusade against statues and memorials, \u200bbut the fight is far from over.
