It turns \u2064out President Joe Biden and other\u2062 top officials\u200b in the administration were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-kept-in-dark-about-defense-secretarys-hospitalization-deputy-took-charge-while-on-vacation-reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">also told<\/a> the alarming \u200bnews around the same time the\u200d public was informed.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. officials reportedly told POLITICO \u2062that White House officials, such as National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, didn\u2019t know \u200babout Austin\u2019s hospital stay, which included some time in the intensive care\u2064 unit, until \u2063Thursday of last week, three days after the Defense secretary was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis\u200b should not have happened this way,\u201d\u2064 one of the officials told POLITICO.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this\u200c week, doctors at Walter Reed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/walter-reed-medical-center-reveals-why-lloyd-austin-was-hospitalized\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">released<\/a> a statement, revealing that Austin was hospitalized after experiencing complications from a urinary tract infection. The statement\u200c also said that Austin was treated in\u2062 late December for prostate cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody at the White\u2064 House knew that Secretary Austin had prostate cancer until this morning \u200band the President was informed \u2062immediately after\u200d we were informed,\u201d Kirby <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/john-kirby-confirms-white-house-was-not-informed-of-austins-first-hospital-stay-either\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> \u200clast Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The\u2062 70-year-old Defense secretary and the Biden administration were slammed by both the Right and the Left with some lawmakers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/house-democrat-joins-calls-for-austin-to-resign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">calling<\/a> for Austin to resign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have lost trust in \u200cSecretary Lloyd Austin\u2019s leadership of the Defense Department due to the lack of transparency about his recent medical treatment and its impact on the continuity of the chain of command,\u201d said Rep. On Monday, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-compares-trump-and-his-supporters-to-defeated-confederates-in-south-carolina-speech\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoke<\/a> to his supporters at Mother Emanuel AME church in\u200c Charleston, South Carolina, the site of the 2015 race-fueled shooting that killed nine black members of\u2062 the church. Much of the speech\u2063 focused on Trump as\u2062 Biden \u200dcompared his political rival and his supporters to \u201cdefeated Confederates,\u201d adding that Trump poses a threat to \u201cdemocracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the Civil\u2062 War, the defeated\u2063 Confederates couldn\u2019t accept the verdict of the war, they lost. So \u200cthey\u200c say they embraced what is known as\u200c the lost cause, the self-serving lie that the Civil War was not about slavery but about states\u2019 rights.\u200c They call that the noble cause. That was a lie,\u201d Biden said adding, \u201cSo let me be clear,\u2064 slavery was the cause of the Civil War. Santiago\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump was in Manhattan for much of the week as he \u2063and his legal team stood before Judge Arthur Engoron and delivered closing arguments in\u200c his civil business fraud trial case.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, Trump had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trump-to-deliver-his-own-closing-argument-in-ny-civil-business-fraud-trial-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">planned<\/a> to give his \u200cown closing argument\u2063 on Thursday, a highly unusual proposal since\u2063 defendants rarely give a closing argument if they have lawyers to represent\u200c them. Nevertheless, one of Trump\u2019s attorneys told Engoron that the former president wanted to speak during \u200bthe closing arguments, \u2062a source told The Associated Press.
