While Harvard did remove Tettey-Tamaklo \u2063from his role as a <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/report-harvard-grad-student-captured-on-film-accosting-classmate-removed-from-proctor-role\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">freshman \u2063proctor<\/a>,\u200b the\u200b school &#8220;has done \u200cnothing to sanction&#8221; \u2063him otherwise, the suit says.<\/p>\n<p>Harvard, which \u2062did not return a request for \u2063comment, pledged in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harvard.edu\/president\/news-gay\/2023\/combating-antisemitism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">November statement<\/a> to &#8220;address \u200dthe incident through\u2063 its student disciplinary procedures&#8221; but has not provided\u200b an update\u2062 since.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Harvard, America&#8217;s leading university, has become a bastion of rampant anti-Jewish hatred and harassment,&#8221; the\u200d complaint says. &#8220;Based on its track record,\u2063 it is inconceivable that \u2064Harvard would allow any \u2064group other than Jews to be targeted for similar abuse \u2063or that\u200b it \u200bwould permit, without response, students \u2062and professors\u200d to call \u2062for the annihilation of any country other than Israel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to its claims regarding\u2064 Bharmal and Tettey-Tamaklo, the suit accuses Harvard law professor Jon Hanson of maligning\u2063 Israel Jews as \u2064&#8221;colonizers&#8221; who &#8220;&#8216;blow[] up&#8217; babies.&#8221; The Dec. 5 congressional \u2062hearing that pressed top university\u200c presidents on their response \u200cto campus anti-Semitism, Hanson added, was a &#8220;master \u200cclass\u200c in \u2062bad-faith culture war bullshit,&#8221; according to the suit, which also says Hanson urged an \u2064Israeli student to refrain\u200b from &#8220;escalating&#8221; a complaint against Bharmal.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200ccomplaint seeks an injunction to stop Harvard \u200dfrom violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The act bars recipients of federal funds from allowing race- and religion-based discrimination.\u200b Plaintiffs include \u200cHarvard Divinity School student Alexander Kestenbaum, five unnamed Harvard students, and Students \u200cAgainst Antisemitism.<\/p>\n<p>Bharmal and \u200dTettey-Tamaklo&#8217;s behavior at the &#8220;die-in&#8221; protest prompted \u2062criticism\u2062 from \u200cprominent Harvard Business School alumni. Five of the school&#8217;s graduates, including\u2064 Sen. Mitt\u200d Romney (R., \u200cUtah) and\u200d billionaire investor\u200c Seth Klarman, published an <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/this-is-not-leadership-open-letter-skewers-harvard-for-failing-to-protect-jewish-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">open letter<\/a> hammering the school \u200dfor its failure to protect Jewish\u200b students.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The videos that have \u2064been made public, particularly the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/harvard-scrubs-online-bio-of-student-captured-on-video-harassing-israeli-classmate\/\" title=\"Harvard removes online bio of student filmed harassing Israeli peer.\">recent violent assault<\/a> \u2063of an Israeli student on \u2063the Harvard Business School campus, allow\u200d us all to see how Jewish\u200b and \u2063Israeli students\u2063 are targets of threats and violence from groups of\u200c pro-Palestinian \u200bstudents,&#8221; Romney, \u200cKlarman, and other graduates wrote in\u2064 the letter. &#8220;Despite these serious concerns, University leadership shockingly has been paralyzed. \u2026 We fear that history is \u200don the verge of repeating itself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> What\u200d incidents \u200dare \u2064cited in\u2062 the lawsuit as evidence of\u200c rising\u200b anti-Semitism at Harvard?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Ut consequence, the physical assault and \u2064intimidation\u200b of a Jewish student by\u200b his classmates.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit also accuses Harvard of turning a blind eye to \u200bthe rise of \u200banti-Semitism on campus, citing\u200d numerous incidents that have occurred in\u200d recent years. \u2064These\u2064 include the defacement of a menorah during Hanukkah, the \u2062use of derogatory \u200bslurs against Jewish students, and\u200b the dissemination\u2063 of anti-Semitic literature. The\u200c fact that the perpetrators of this assault have largely\u2062 gone unpunished sends\u2064 a dangerous message to \u200bthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gottlieb-estimates-fda-will-authorize-pfizer-covid-19-vaccine-for-children-by-early-winter\/\" title=\"Gottlieb estimates FDA will authorize Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children by early winter\">entire student body<\/a> \u200bthat targeting Jews is\u2062 acceptable\u200d behavior.<\/p>\n<p>Universities have a responsibility to create a \u200bsafe and inclusive environment for all students, regardless of their religious or ethnic background. By allowing anti-Semitic behavior to go unchecked, Harvard is failing\u2063 in its duty to \u2063fulfill this responsibility. It is imperative that the university\u200b takes immediate\u2063 and decisive action to combat anti-Semitism\u2063 and\u200c ensure the\u2064 safety and well-being of its Jewish\u200d students.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Harvard must implement effective educational programs \u200dand initiatives to promote tolerance, diversity, and understanding among its students. These initiatives should include mandatory anti-discrimination training, \u200cthe establishment of a dedicated office to handle reports of discrimination \u2063and harassment, and \u2062increased dialogue and collaboration between different religious and ethnic \u2063groups on campus.<\/p>\n<p>In a society that values equality and respect for all individuals, it is unacceptable\u2062 for a\u200b prestigious\u2062 institution\u200d like Harvard to allow \u200banti-Semitism to persist within its walls. The \u200buniversity \u200dmust demonstrate its commitment to combating hate and discrimination by holding the perpetrators accountable and actively working to create a\u200d culture of \u2064inclusivity and\u2063 acceptance.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2064 is the hope \u2064that this lawsuit will serve as a wake-up \u2062call not only to Harvard but also to \u2063other educational\u200c institutions across the country. Anti-Semitism remains a significant\u200b problem on college campuses, and it\u2063 is essential that\u2063 action is taken to address this issue and ensure the safety and well-being\u200c of Jewish students.<\/p>\n<p>Harvard has a chance to lead by example and demonstrate its commitment to diversity, tolerance, and inclusivity. \u2064By doing so, \u200bit can create an \u2062environment where all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/this-washington-high-school-is-instructing-teachers-to-avoid-saying-biologically-male\/\" title=\"This Washington High School Is Instructing Teachers To Avoid Saying \u2018Biologically Male\u2019\">students feel safe<\/a>, respected, \u200band valued, regardless of\u200d their religious or ethnic background.
