But something seems off &#8211; he&#8217;s wearing a skirt,\u2062 heels, and lipstick. Do you \u200bhave the right to ask him to change?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Well, \u2062under new proposals in\u200b Scotland, repeatedly \u2064asking your \u200bchild to\u2063 change their appearance could land you in hot water. The \u200bdraft &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/christian-charity-alarmed-by-push-to-criminalize-gentle-non-coercive-prayer-for-lgbt-people-in-u-k\/\" title=\"Christian Charity Alarmed By Push To Criminalize \u2018Gentle, Non-Coercive Prayer\u2019 For LGBT People In U.K.\">conversion therapy ban<\/a>&#8221; could make it a criminal offense\u2063 if \u2062you engage in a &#8220;coercive \u2062course \u2064of behavior&#8221; \u200ctowards your \u2064child.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Imagine this: your son, feeling distressed by your concerns, reports \u200byou to the\u200b authorities,\u2062 accusing you of being controlling\u2063 and pressuring him \u200dto conform. And\u200b just \u2062like that, you&#8217;re facing up to seven\u200b years in\u200d prison or an unlimited fine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But it doesn&#8217;t stop there. This proposed \u200claw would allow social workers and \u2064state\u200c authorities to\u200b interfere in the parent-child relationship like never \u2062before. It&#8217;s part of a pattern of Scotland&#8217;s &#8220;woke&#8221; \u2062government, which\u200b previously attempted to assign\u2064 every child a &#8220;named person&#8221; &#8211; a government \u2063official with access to private information. Instead, parents\u2063 are living in fear of\u200c losing their children or ending up behind bars, all while \u200bnavigating\u200c the complexities of \u200ba child \u200bwho may be struggling with various issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And what about the\u200c kids\u2064 themselves? As parents self-censor to\u2064 avoid punishment, a generation \u200cis growing\u2062 up without ever hearing the word &#8220;no.&#8221; How will\u200b they navigate a\u200b diverse and tolerant society if they&#8217;re shielded from differing \u2062opinions?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Children are not adults, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/genital-mutilation-supporters-are-upset-that-bella-hadid-got-a-nose-job-at-14\/\" title=\"Genital Mutilation Supporters Are Upset That Bella Hadid Got A Nose Job At 14\">making life-changing decisions<\/a> at a young age \u200dcan have serious consequences. Are those who push kids towards significant transitions the ones truly guilty of \u200c&#8221;conversion therapy&#8221;?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Confusion and fear are on \u200bthe rise, and\u2064 Scotland\u200b may soon become \u200done\u200c of the \u200bmost challenging\u2064 places to raise \u2063a family in the \u200bWestern\u2064 world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Parents \u2064are not children. The \u2062majority\u200c of them are \u200ddedicated to raising their children well,\u2062 based on science-backed beliefs. They want to protect\u2062 their children from potential harm and irreversible decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Common sense \u2063should \u2064not be a \u2063crime. And \u200bwhile it is crucial to \u200dprotect vulnerable individuals, including the LGBTQ+ community, from harmful and abusive practices, this legislation seems to\u2062 go way beyond that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In\u2062 fact, it raises serious\u2062 concerns about the erosion of \u2062parental rights and\u200b the\u200c intrusion of \u2062the state into family life. Parents should have the right to raise\u2064 their children according to their own values\u200c and beliefs, \u2063as long as \u200bthey are not engaged in harmful or\u200b abusive behavior.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But where do we draw the line? Should parents be criminalized for simply expressing concern\u2063 about their child&#8217;s choices? \u200cIt is important to recognize that children \u200cgo through phases and experimentation is a\u2064 natural part of their development.\u2063 However, parents also\u2063 play\u200c a critical\u2063 role in guiding and protecting their children from potential harm. Balancing these conflicting interests is no easy task.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Furthermore, this proposed law raises questions about the role of the state in parenting. \u200bShould the government have\u200d the authority to dictate how \u2062parents should interact \u2063with their children? Should they have the power to intervene in parental decisions deemed within \u2063the realm of ordinary parenting?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While it is important to support and protect the rights of children, it should not come \u2063at the expense of parental autonomy and the rights of parents\u200d to raise their children \u200din accordance with their own values and beliefs, as long as the child&#8217;s wellbeing is\u200b not compromised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The\u2064 proposed conversion therapy ban in Scotland seems to be \u200ca step too far in encroaching upon the rights of parents. It risks criminalizing parenting practices that may be \u2062seen as simply \u200cexpressing concern or trying to guide children in making what\u200d parents believe to \u200dbe the right choices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In \u200dconclusion,\u2064 while\u2062 it\u200b is important to protect individuals from harmful practices, including conversion \u200ctherapy, it is equally vital to respect and preserve the rights of parents to raise their children as they see \u2062fit, within \u200bthe bounds of reasonable and non-abusive behavior. The proposed conversion therapy ban in Scotland \u200craises significant concerns about the erosion of parental rights and\u2064 the\u2064 role of the state in parenting.
