The updated calendar,\u2063 supported\u200b by\u200c President\u2062 Biden, sought to make \u2063South Carolina\u2064 the first state on the Democrat presidential primary schedule. While Iowa and New Hampshire, respectively, have historically marked the first electoral \u2063contests in the presidential primary process for both\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/canadian-parliament-votes-unanimously-to-recognize-chinas-genocide\/\" title=\"Canadian Parliament Votes Unanimously To Recognize China\u2019s Genocide\">major political parties<\/a>, the DNC\u2019s decision to \u2064schedule\u2063 South \u200bCarolina first was, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/new-hampshire-attorney-general-accuses-dnc-voter-suppression-rcna132945\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NBC News described<\/a>, due \u200cto Iowa\u2019s caucuses being viewed as \u201ctoo white and too undemocratic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/rsa\/html\/LXIII\/653\/653-9.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">state law<\/a> mandating New Hampshire\u200b host a presidential \u2062primary \u201c7 days or\u200c more immediately preceding the date on\u2063 which any other state \u2062shall hold \u200ca\u200d similar election,\u201d \u200bthe DNC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doj.nh.gov\/news\/2024\/documents\/01052024-rbc-letter-to-nhdp.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> the \u2063NHDP that the Jan. 23 primary scheduled by the New Hampshire secretary\u2063 of state \u201ccannot\u200d be used as the first determining stage of the state\u2019s delegate \u200dselection\u2063 process and is \u200cconsidered \u2063detrimental.\u201d The guidance\u200b further informed the \u2062state party that no \u201cdelegates or\u200c alternates shall be apportioned\u201d and no \u201cscheduling of events related to the selection of delegates or alternates in New\u200b Hampshire may be\u201d based on the Jan. 23 election.<\/p>\n<p>In his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doj.nh.gov\/news\/2024\/documents\/01082024-nhdoj-candd-to-rbc.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cease-and-desist order<\/a> to the \u200dDNC, Assistant \u2063Attorney\u2063 General Brendan O\u2019Donnell underscored how \u201c[f]alsely telling New Hampshire voters that a New Hampshire election \u2064is \u2018meaningless\u2019 violates\u2062 New Hampshire \u200bvoter suppression laws,\u201d and further\u2063 ordered the organization to stop engaging in such \u201cunlawful\u201d conduct.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegardless of whether the DNC refuses to award delegates to\u2063 the party\u2019s \u200dnational convention\u200d based on the results\u2063 of \u2064the January 23, 2024,\u200b New Hampshire [D]emocratic Presidential \u2062Primary Election, that election is not \u2018meaningless.\u2019 Your statements to the contrary\u2062 are \u2062false, deceptive, and \u2064misleading,\u201d \u2062O\u2019Donnell wrote. \u201cTelling the\u2062 public or \u200bany person qualified to register to vote or vote in\u2063 New Hampshire \u2063that the [aforementioned election] is \u2018meaningless,\u2019 or soliciting NHDP or any\u2063 other \u200dparty to \u200bmake such statements, constitutes\u2062 an attempt \u200bto prevent or deter another person from voting \u2063or registering\u2063 to vote \u2063based on fraudulent, deceptive, misleading, \u2063or spurious grounds or information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Donnell further warned the DNC that he\u2063 reserved the right to pursue further legal\u200c action.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s worth mentioning that \u200cthe DNC\u2019s decision to hold South Carolina\u2019s primary before the party\u2019s Iowa caucus and New\u2063 Hampshire primary\u200b is designed to benefit Biden. The \u2062state of New Hampshire takes\u200b its role as the first primary state \u2064seriously and has specific laws in \u2063place to ensure the democratic process operates fairly. By informing voters that their vote will not count, the DNC\u200c is effectively suppressing their right to participate in the electoral process.<\/p>\n<p>The argument put forth by the DNC, that the Iowa caucuses are &#8220;too white and too undemocratic,&#8221; \u2064does not justify disregarding state laws\u2064 and undermining the importance of the New Hampshire primary. It is essential to respect the\u200d democratic\u200d traditions of each state and allow voters to have their voices heard.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Attorney General O&#8217;Donnell&#8217;s cease-and-desist order emphasizes the unlawful nature of the \u2064DNC&#8217;s conduct and demands that they immediately cease disseminating\u200b false\u200b information to New Hampshire voters. \u200bThe order rightly asserts that regardless of \u2062whether \u200bthe DNC chooses to award delegates based on the \u200dresults of the \u2064New Hampshire primary, the election holds significant value for \u2062the state and its\u2062 voters.<\/p>\n<p>The New Hampshire primary has long been \u200drecognized as a crucial step in \u200bthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democratic-malcontents-eye-biden-harris-alternatives-but-few-names-emerge\/\" title=\"Democratic malcontents eye Biden-Harris alternatives, but few names emerge\">presidential nomination process<\/a>.\u200b It provides \u2062an opportunity for candidates to engage with voters, understand their concerns, \u200cand shape their \u2064campaign strategies. By \u2062issuing \u2062the cease-and-desist\u200b order, Attorney General Formella and Assistant Attorney General O&#8217;Donnell are \u2064fulfilling their duty to protect \u200cthe democratic process and the rights of New Hampshire voters.<\/p>\n<p>It \u200cis crucial \u2063that the DNC respects the authority and\u200d laws\u200d of \u2063the \u200bstates in which it operates. If there are concerns\u200b or disagreements regarding the primary schedule, they should be \u200daddressed through proper channels and respectful dialogue.
