During the training sessions, \u2063staffers learned to\u2062 use &#8220;inclusive \u200clanguage,&#8221; like &#8220;Latinx,&#8221; and were shown an\u200d illustration of a transgender gingerbread \u200bman that could\u200c have a woman&#8217;s \u200bbrain \u200dand \u200bmale reproductive organs. Staffers were also told to\u200d refer to \u2062Federal\u2062 Reserve chairman Jerome Powell \u2064as &#8220;chair,&#8221; an example of &#8220;gender-inclusive language.&#8221; The \u200dFederal Reserve&#8217;s website\u2064 refers to Jerome Powell\u2063 as &#8220;chairman of the Board of\u200d Governors of the Federal Reserve System.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure>\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/?attachment_id=1846878\" alt=\"Federal\u2062 Reserve\"><figcaption>(Federal Reserve)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The training materials also asserted that individuals have a &#8220;civil right&#8221; to their preferred gender pronouns. \u2064To support the claim, the training materials \u200ccite \u200dTitle VII\u200d of \u200dthe Civil \u2063Rights Act, which they say &#8220;prohibits any employment discrimination on the basis of gender identity\u2064 and\/or sexual orientation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The documents show the \u200dpervasiveness\u2064 of\u2064 DEI \u200btraining\u200c in \u2064the federal\u2062 government. DEI training \u2062has wormed \u2064its way into virtually every government agency. At the <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/what-the-feds-are-teaching-in-diversity-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Defense<\/a>, soldiers are taught about a &#8220;male&#8221;\u2063 who wants to\u200b &#8220;discuss \u2063his \u200dnewly confirmed \u2062pregnancy.&#8221;\u2062 NASA staff are trained to\u200b believe that efforts to\u200b be colorblind &#8220;actually limit us&#8221; \u200dand warned against &#8220;microaggressions,&#8221; such as \u2063saying that &#8220;America is a melting pot.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At the time of these training sessions, the\u200d Federal\u200b Reserve\u2014which \u200bis tasked \u2062with managing the \u2063nation&#8217;s monetary policy and regulating financial institutions\u2014was facing the highest inflation\u200d in four decades. The Fed has\u200d faced low levels of approval in\u200c recent years.\u200d An April 2023\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/americans-have-historically-low-trust-in-biden-officials-to-prevent-economic-meltdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a> found that 54 percent of Americans do \u2064not trust Powell to manage the economy.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Reserve \u2062seminars included\u200c lessons on &#8220;Pronouns, Gender Inclusion,\u2062 &#038; Inclusive Language&#8221; and &#8220;Acknowledging Your \u200bWhite Privilege,&#8221; among others. Much of\u200c the lessons were dedicated to &#8220;white privilege,&#8221;\u2063 the idea that all white Americans are born with \u2063advantages because of their skin color. The\u200d materials given to Federal Reserve staff list examples of white \u200bprivilege such as not &#8220;wondering why none of the characters \u2062or people look\u200c like you&#8221; when \u2063&#8221;watching \u2062a TV show or movie.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure>\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/?attachment_id=1846881\" alt=\"Federal\u2062 Reserve\"><figcaption>(Federal Reserve)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;If you \u2062are offended by the term &#8216;white privilege,&#8217; consider why you feel that way,&#8221; a \u2064PowerPoint slide reads. \u2063&#8221;Be committed to\u2064 helping people fight anti-racism.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure>\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/?attachment_id=1846887\" alt=\"Federal Reserve\"><figcaption>(Federal\u2063 Reserve)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The DEI training materials list other types of privilege related to &#8220;body size&#8221; and &#8220;language.&#8221; A Federal Reserve \u200cstaffer may\u200b have privilege, another \u200bslide\u2063 says, if\u2062 he or she thinks that &#8220;I don&#8217;t have \u200bto\u200c change who\u200d I am \u2063to &#8216;fit in.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It is not clear whether the DEI training sessions were mandatory\u2062 for all Federal Reserve staff or whether\u2062 they were conducted\u200b virtually or in-person. The Federal\u2062 Reserve did not respond to \u200ca request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Federal Reserve staffer John Allegro, who oversaw a June training session, said the &#8220;framework for \u200dtoday&#8217;s content&#8221; was inspired in part by Nigerian author Chimamanda \u2062Ngozi Adichie. A critic of organized religion, Adichie in 2017 slammed the Catholic Church as &#8220;not a\u2062 women-friendly \u200binstitution&#8221; and said its teachings\u200b have &#8220;been used to\u200d justify oppressions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That same year, \u2064in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/entertainment\/archive\/2017\/11\/the-intolerant-left\/545783\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> with &#8220;antiracist&#8221; author Ta-Nehisi Coates, Adichie said, &#8220;There&#8217;s a particular kind of\u200d asshole-ry that white people reserve for black people,&#8221; and claimed that America is a racist country.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How did the training encourage the use of inclusive language and promote acceptance of diverse gender identities?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Born with inherent advantages in society due to their race. \u200dThe training materials highlighted the importance of recognizing and\u2064 understanding white privilege in\u2062 order to create a\u200b more inclusive \u200dand\u200b equitable workplace.<\/p>\n<p>One particular lesson\u200c that caught attention during these training sessions was the \u200cuse of inclusive language. Staff members were \u2063encouraged to \u200buse terms \u2062like\u200c &#8220;Latinx&#8221; instead of \u200cgendered terms\u200d like Latino or Latina. In addition, an illustration of a \u200btransgender gingerbread man was shown to depict\u200c the idea \u2064that gender identity can be fluid and does not necessarily align\u200d with biological\u200b sex. This example was \u200cused\u200d to promote acceptance and understanding of diverse gender \u2062identities.<\/p>\n<p>Another \u2063noteworthy aspect of the\u2064 training\u2063 was the discussion on the usage of gender-neutral language when referring to Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell. Staff members were advised to use the term &#8220;chair&#8221; instead of \u2062&#8221;chairman&#8221; to promote gender inclusivity. While the Federal Reserve&#8217;s official website still describes Powell as the &#8220;chairman of the \u2062Board\u200d of Governors of the Federal Reserve System,&#8221; the training \u2064materials\u200d encourage the use of gender-neutral language.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2062training materials also emphasized that individuals have\u200c a civil\u200b right to their preferred \u200dgender pronouns.\u200b This claim was supported\u200b by citing Title \u2064VII of the Civil Rights \u200bAct, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/corporate-dei-headed-for-legal-test-after-supreme-court-affirmative-action-ruling\/\" title=\"Supreme Court ruling puts Corporate DEI to legal test.\">prohibits employment \u200ddiscrimination based<\/a> on gender identity \u200dand\/or sexual orientation.
