Cruz highlighted the fact that Trump has not been \u2062charged with insurrection in the two criminal cases \u2063related to his \u200calleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.<\/p>\n<p>Discussing the Supreme Court\u2019s decision to hear the case following the\u2062 Colorado Supreme Court\u2019s ruling that Trump committed insurrection on \u200dJanuary\u200d 6 and was therefore ineligible for office, Cruz shared his belief that the court will\u200b explicitly state in its opinion that it does\u2062 not express\u2064 an opinion on whether an\u2063 insurrection \u200boccurred on that \u200bday.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz acknowledged that Trump faces multiple\u200b criminal indictments, but emphasized that \u2063despite the perception that prosecutors are\u2062 targeting Trump, he has not been \u200cindicted \u2064for insurrection \u2062anywhere. Cruz pointed \u200dout that even \u200bin the highly liberal\u2063 environment of Washington, \u2063D.C., with a predominantly Democratic jury pool, Trump\u2062 has not been charged with insurrection because there is no substantial evidence to support such \u2062a claim.<\/p>\n<p>According to Cruz, Trump&#8217;s actions, including\u200c his tweets and speech urging peaceful protests, cannot be\u2064 legally construed as insurrection.
