In an effort\u2064 to bypass\u200d new requirements in New York City,\u200c hundreds of immigrants from the border have been arriving at New Jersey train stations, causing concern among local officials.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Prior \u200cNotice and \u200bPassenger Information Crucial \u2064for\u2064 Safety<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;As we continue to \u2062see more migrants arrive\u200d to our state at the hands of the Governor of Texas, who is reportedly funding the passengers&#8217; transportation with taxpayer funds, notice\u200d to New Jersey officials\u2064 in advance of these individuals&#8217; anticipated arrival is critical to ensuring the \u2063health and safety \u2063of \u2062passengers once\u2062 they\u2063 arrive in\u2064 New Jersey,&#8221; \u2063Murphy \u2063emphasized in a letter sent to several companies.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Following opposition from New Jersey&#8217;s mayors and officials, Murphy is now\u2063 seeking \u200bsimilar restrictions for his state as those in place in New York City. Recognizing that most of these individuals intend \u200dto travel to New York City,\u200c Murphy \u200cplans to share the provided information with colleagues across the Hudson to ensure the well-being of the passengers there.<\/p>\n<p>New York City recently filed a lawsuit against 17 bus\u200d companies, seeking $708 million in\u200b damages for transporting immigrants from Texas. \u200cThe lawsuit alleges that these \u2064companies violated \u2063a social service law and Mayor Eric Adams&#8217;s executive order, both aimed at addressing the surge \u200cof immigrants entering the city.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Legal Battle and \u2063Responsibility<\/h3>\n<p>New York City&#8217;s lawsuit accuses\u200c the\u200c bus companies of\u2063 knowingly bringing needy individuals from out of state and making them a \u2063public charge, in violation \u200cof the social service law.
