This includes $886 billion for defense and $704 billion for nondefense\u2064 spending.<\/p>\n<p>However, members of the Freedom\u200c Caucus\u200c argue that the plan actually\u2064 exceeds the agreed-upon funding levels, stating that undisclosed side deals between House and\u2063 Senate leadership push the government spending beyond the $1.59 trillion mark.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe speaker\u2019s office and everyone in \u2063town are trying to sell everybody a bill of goods. It\u2019s not true,\u201d\u2063 Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) told the Washington Examiner. \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/aoc-on-democrats-3-5-trillion-bill-the-problem-is-this-conversation-shouldnt-be-about-numbers\/\" title=\"AOC On Democrats\u2019 .5 Trillion Bill: \u2018The Problem\u2019 Is \u2018This Conversation Shouldn\u2019t Be About Numbers\u2019\">top line number<\/a> for the overall size and scope of the government will be $1.659 \u2063trillion.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During the negotiations, House Republicans managed to secure $16 billion in additional spending\u200b cuts to\u2063 offset the discretionary\u200d spending levels, according to Johnson.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson\u200d acknowledges\u2063 that he can&#8217;t please everyone, as he has faced opposition \u2062from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mccarthy-fights-to-shore-up-republican-support-ahead-of-speakership-vote\/\" title=\"McCarthy Fights to Shore Up Republican Support Ahead of Speakership Vote\">hard-line conservatives<\/a> in the past. In \u200ba letter to members,\u2062 he states that\u2064 while the spending levels may not satisfy everyone, the agreement does move the process\u200d forward,\u2063 reprioritizes funding towards conservative objectives, and \u200cfights for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-and-senate-leadership-agree-to-top-line-spending-levels-for-appropriations-bills\/\" title=\"House and Senate leaders agree on spending limits for appropriations bills\">important policy riders<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t the \u2062first time Johnson\u200b has faced backlash from hard-line conservatives. He previously angered \u200cthem with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/congress-risks-government-shutdown-if-omnibus-bill-not-passed-this-week\/\" title=\"Congress Risks Government Shutdown if Omnibus Bill Not Passed This Week\">continuing resolution passed<\/a> in November and the National Defense Authorization Act. The new spending agreement \u200bis once again frustrating them.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s just say there\u2019s a \u2063lot of conversations underway \u2062right \u200cnow about our complete lack\u200b of confidence now and \u2062where the Republican \u2063leadership is,\u201d\u2062 Roy said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With dissent from Republicans, it is \u2063unlikely that there \u2063are enough votes to pass the rule on appropriations bills. This means that any bills would \u200chave to be passed under suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority to pass.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re \u2063going to have to start calling it the suspension speakership,\u201d Roy said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Freedom Caucus has already \u200clabeled the agreement as a &#8220;total failure&#8221; and called for an end to funding\u2063 spending\u200b with an open border.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, conservative members of the House Freedom Caucus are expressing their dissatisfaction with the \u200cspending agreement and raising concerns about the state of the House GOP leadership.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> Why \u200dare conservative members of the Freedom Caucus opposing the \u2064spending agreement and what key issues\u2063 do\u2062 they believe it fails to address<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Decision\u2063 to negotiate an agreement that exceeds the agreed-upon funding levels is incredibly disappointing,\u201d said Representative Mark Meadows (R-NC),\u2064 one of the most prominent members of the Freedom\u200c Caucus\u200c. \u201cThis is not what \u2063conservatives in the House were elected to do. We \u200cwere elected to rein in government spending \u200cand prioritize \u200bthe needs of the \u200cAmerican people.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Meadows and his fellow conservative colleagues \u200bargue that\u2063 the spending agreement demonstrates a lack of fiscal responsibility and a failure to address the nation&#8217;s debt crisis. They believe \u2062that the government \u200cshould be focused on reducing \u200cspending \u2064and \u200cfinding ways to balance the budget, rather than increasing it.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, members of the Freedom\u200c Caucus\u200c criticize the lack of transparency surrounding\u200c the\u200c negotiations and the \u200dinclusion of undisclosed side deals. They \u200bargue that\u2062 such backroom agreements\u2062 undermine the democratic process and limit the ability of elected officials to fulfill \u200ctheir oversight responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese undisclosed side \u200cdeals are a blatant disregard for the American people and for the principles\u200c of democracy,\u201d said Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH), another \u2062prominent \u2062member\u200d of the\u200d Freedom\u200c Caucus\u200c. \u201cWe cannot allow our government to operate in\u2064 such secrecy \u200band undermine the transparency that our constituents expect and deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Freedom\u200c Caucus\u200c members have vowed to vote\u200b against the spending agreement and rally conservative Republicans to do the same. They argue \u2064that the agreement not only falls short of conservative principles but also \u2063fails to address key issues such as immigration and border\u2063 security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot sign off on a spending agreement that does not \u200daddress the urgent need for border security and immigration reform,\u201d said Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ), a newly \u200celected\u200d member of the \u200dFreedom\u200c Caucus\u200c. \u201cIt is our duty as\u2064 elected officials to protect the \u2064American people and secure our borders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The opposition from conservative \u200dmembers of the Freedom\u200c Caucus\u200c poses a potential challenge for Speaker Johnson \u2062and Senate leaders as they \u200ctry to gain support for\u200d the spending agreement. Without the votes of \u200dthese \u2062conservative members, it will be much more difficult to pass \u2062the agreement and avoid \u2064a\u2062 government \u2064shutdown.<\/p>\n<p>The spending agreement is\u200c expected to be brought to the House floor for a vote in the coming days. Conservative members of the Freedom\u200c Caucus\u200c are prepared to fight against it \u200band\u200c make their voices heard, in an effort to push for a more \u200cfiscally \u2062responsible agreement that\u2064 aligns with\u2063 conservative \u2063principles.<\/p>\n<p>As Congress\u2063 prepares to vote on\u2062 the spending agreement, the divide within the Republican Party over fiscal responsibility and government spending continues\u2064 to grow. The outcome of this disagreement could have \u200csignificant \u2063implications for the\u2062 future of the party and its ability to enact\u200c conservative policy priorities.<\/p>\n<p>Only time will tell whether the voices of the conservative members of the Freedom\u200c Caucus\u200c will be heard and if their opposition to the spending agreement will result in a different outcome.
