Virtue is derided while vices \u2064are celebrated; confusion and\u2062 contradiction frequently overwhelm decency and \u200ccommon sense; and the feeling of optimism and commitment to excellence are now smothered by widespread\u2064 anxiety and nihilism. As one would expect in such an environment, \u2063marriage and birth\u200d rates continue to plummet with little hope of recovering.<\/p>\n<p>Of course,\u2064 it\u2019s a different story for \u2063the conservatives. Unlike their Democrat\u200d peers, conservative couples are far more likely\u200d to marry and have kids \u2014 and far less likely to feel bad about it. However, this puts them at odds with contemporary \u200cculture and presents more than a \u200cfew challenges for raising their little ones. While some\u200d conservative families will find ways\u200c to shut out bad influences and go off the grid (i.e. the Benedict Option), everyone else is searching for ways to adapt \u2063to today\u2019s circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>To that end, conservative mothers Katy Faust and Stacy Manning have \u2063written a practical guide on how to \u200bsurvive, and \u2062even thrive, in today\u2019s sick culture in their\u2064 fittingly titled new book, <em>Raising \u2062Conservative Kids in \u200ca Woke City: Teaching \u200bHistorical, Economic, and\u2062 Biological Truth\u200b in a World of Lies<\/em>. Living \u200din\u200c Seattle, \u200cone of the nation\u2019s \u201cwokest\u201d cities, \u2062and being accomplished writers in their own right, Faust and Manning are uniquely \u200dsuited to give \u2063advice and tell war\u2064 stories for the rest of us parents facing the same struggles.<\/p>\n<p>As political scholar Yoram Hazony explains in \u200cthe foreward, \u201cAt the \u2064heart\u200b of this book \u200dis the belief that parents \u200din communities overrun by the present cultural \u200brevolution have no choice but to go to war for their children.\u201d Faust and Manning do not sugarcoat \u200cconservative parents\u2019 dilemma but take it as a given that parents and children will have to fight.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Very Model of a Modern\u200c Parent<\/h2>\n<p>Before \u200cthey roll out their tactics for winning \u200cthis battle, they first form the essential work of identifying the conservatism that parents are fighting for. Their definition is\u2063 broad \u200byet clear:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Conservative\u200b philosophy, at its core, recognizes and conforms to the base nature of human beings; \u2063that\u2019s why the conservative approach to problem solving seeks \u2062its solutions \u2062by considering \u200bhistorical facts, \u2062accounting\u200b for biological reality, and relies on \u2063observable, time-tested,\u200b economic principles.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>All this\u200c flies in the face of \u200ba progressive culture (\u201cwokeness\u201d) that \u2062seeks\u200c to transform human \u2064nature, build up false utopias, and deny basic reality to make this all happen. In the woke imagination, socialism works,\u2062 sex \u200dis a spectrum, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/graham-cable-news-death-cult-craziness-goes-unpunished\/\" title=\"GRAHAM: Cable News \u2018Death Cult\u2019 Craziness Goes Unpunished\">feelings trump facts<\/a>, and governments can \u2062fix anything as long as\u200d they\u200b have enough power and money.<\/p>\n<p>Not only \u2064is this kind of thinking fundamentally unsound, but it \u200dis also\u200d irresponsible, often attributing predictable failures to\u2062 those who dissent. This is \u2064why\u2064 Democrats are so adamant about stressing conformity and stigmatizing their opponents. Like most conservative Christians, Faust \u2064and Manning weren\u2019t\u200b exactly looking for \u2064a \u2064confrontation, but they have no choice when so many people on the\u200c other side simply \u200ccan\u2019t agree \u200cto disagree.\u200c And sure enough, this experience will force people\u2064 out of their comfort \u200czone:\u2063 \u201cYou\u2019re going to have to broach many subjects that you wish you didn\u2019t have \u200cto discuss with them earlier than you\u2019d\u200d like. They\u2019re \u2064going to have to her about\u2064 porn and white privilege from someone; that someone \u200cneeds to be you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once they\u2019ve established conservative principles, Faust and Manning discuss how these ideas and habits are successfully \u200dinculcated into children from an early age. First, it\u2019s best to stay informed (\u201cBecome an Expert\u201d) and calm (practice the \u201cNo Flinch \u2062Rule\u201d). In\u200c a Democrat-run city, conservative parents do \u200bnot have \u2062much room for error. If they don\u2019t do their homework on the issues or overreact to something a woke teacher said, they will alienate their kids who can easily\u2064 find affirmation elsewhere. Instead, they need to be \u201ca refuge\u201d that offers protection from bad ideas as well as warmth and stability in \u2064a moral and \u200dintellectual wasteland.<\/p>\n<p>This\u2063 leads into the middle chapters\u200d of the book,\u2062 organized around a process\u2062 of gradual release, which is captured \u2064in the following formula:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>Step \u200c1. I do, you watch.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Step\u200c 2. I do, you\u2063 help.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Step 3. You do, I help.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Step 4. You do, I watch.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When the \u2063children are young, parents should model correct \u2064behavior and thinking. As \u2064they grow older, children will help more and offer their own input. Around\u2062 the time they hit \u200dmiddle school, parents \u2062will coach their children who will start engaging with the enemy. Finally, as they finish \u200bhigh school and enter \u2063college, the children will be\u2064 their own advocates, do their \u2064own \u200cresearch, and try to save some of their classmates while their \u200cparents cheer them on.<\/p>\n<p>Faust has previously given a condensed version of this idea in an\u2062 essay\u2062 for The Federalist, but the book allows her and Manning to share many of their stories, which tend \u200bto be the best \u200dparts of the book.<\/p>\n<p>As a Texan teaching\u200d in a relatively conservative suburb\u2063 in North\u200b Dallas, I admit I was utterly shocked at what some of these Seattle teachers are doing. So much instructional time is devoted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/students-want-professor-to-resign-after-expressing-concern-over-anti-white-sentiment-on-campus\/\" title=\"Students Want Professor To Resign After Expressing Concern Over Anti-White Sentiment On Campus\">anti-white racism<\/a>, pro-abortion and LGBT\u2064 activism, as well as \u2062Marxist indoctrination. Faust\u2019s and Manning\u2019s children seem to make the most of it \u2063and\u200b learn the truth behind these issues, but it\u2019s \u200dsad to think how many other children accept this warped\u2063 agenda as \u200ca \u200blegitimate education. The only ones learning how to think, argue,\u200d read,\u2063 write, and \u2063act maturely are the conservative students who push back. Meanwhile, the other students read (or pretend to read) bad books, write bad arguments, never grow up,\u200b and have to deal with a massive amount of cognitive\u2063 dissonance their whole\u2062 lives.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fighting \u2064Back<\/h2>\n<p>The\u200c book finally concludes with some pointers about how to\u200d argue and teach \u2062effectively, specifically by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/robert-f-kennedy-jr-says-hes-proud-that-trump-likes-him\/\" title=\"RFK Jr. pleased with Trump's admiration.\">avoiding personal attacks<\/a> and \u2063finding allies. Both \u200csuggestions are indeed \u2063fundamental as temptations to \u200b\u201cown the libs\u201d and do it \u2064alone are strong for beleaguered conservatives.<\/p>\n<p>Manning opens the chapter with her own harrowing story of being canceled to show what comes of the \u2062approach, asserting, \u201cAttacking people only serves\u2062 to reinforce your target\u2019s opposition to your ideas and makes you their undying enemy.\u201d If conservative ideas have a chance of converting \u200cthe \u2064surrounding culture, their\u2064 spokesmen can\u2019t\u2062 stoop to\u2062 the \u2064level of the woke mob conducting \u200da witch-hunt.\u2064 It\u2019s ugly,\u2062 ineffective, and profoundly un-conservative.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the book, Faust \u2064and Manning are especially good\u2063 at engaging their audience with humor and modesty. \u2062Despite so many infuriating clashes\u2063 with the Democrat ignoramuses running Seattle, they remain happy \u200bwarriors \u2063who see \u200cthe big picture. Even\u200d if culture looks\u2064 lost \u2063now, the future belongs to the people \u200craising their children right, not today\u2019s cultural gatekeepers. As they put it in their last chapter: \u2062\u201cWhile the\u2062 Woke might currently hold the cultural\u200d power, they are not\u200b producing children\u200b at a sustainable rate; so, \u200cif we conservatives can successfully prevent them from infecting the minds of\u2062 our children, this nation could look very different in short order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If there were one fault in the book (and it\u2019s a minor one), Faust and Manning occasionally overdo\u2064 it with the humor, particularly with so many ironic footnotes. In moderation, this can help move an argument along and keep a reader interested \u2014 Peter Zeihan does this\u200d masterfully in <em>The End of the World Is Just the Beginning<\/em>. In excess,\u2063 however, it can be\u200c a distraction and detract \u200bfrom the points being \u2064made, especially if some of the jokes don\u2019t land.<\/p>\n<p>That \u200csaid, considering the relative dearth of literature on this topic, the very need for <em>Raising Conservative Kids in\u2063 a Woke City<\/em> easily\u200d overcomes these few shortcomings. No longer \u200bdo conservative parents \u2062need to\u2064 flee to the hills\u2064 or resign \u200btheir children to the current madness. It\u2019s possible to fight \u2064back \u2014 and to win.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"> <\/p>\n<h2> What strategies can \u200cconservative parents use to find allies and build a support \u200cnetwork in a hostile cultural environment?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Th a \u200breminder that\u2062 conservative parents must approach discussions \u2064and debates with love and empathy towards their opponents. It is not about proving oneself right, but about planting seeds of truth \u200cand opening the door to \u2064dialogue. Faust and Manning\u200d emphasize the importance of finding allies, whether it be other conservative\u200d parents,\u2064 teachers,\u2062 or community members who \u200dshare similar values. Building a support network can provide strength and encouragement in \u2063the face of opposition and \u2062can help to amplify the conservative voice \u200din the community.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, \u200bRaising Conservative Kids in\u200b a \u2062Woke City\u200b provides\u200d practical advice and strategies \u2062for navigating the challenges of raising conservative children \u200bin a hostile cultural environment. Faust and Manning&#8217;s \u200bpersonal\u200c experiences and anecdotes bring the book to \u200dlife, making it relatable and engaging.
