Elise Stefanik Calls for Harvard President&#8217;s Resignation<\/h2>\n<p>In \u2062a fiery interview on NBC News&#8217; &#8220;Meet The Press,&#8221;\u2062 Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) expressed her belief that Harvard President\u2063 Claudine Gay&#8217;s resignation was long overdue. Stefanik criticized Gay&#8217;s\u200d testimony before Congress regarding anti-Semitism on campus, as well as the subsequent plagiarism allegations she faced.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;It was long overdue. She should\u2064 have\u2062 resigned immediately following the hearing,&#8221; Stefanik declared. &#8220;And, of\u2062 course, this follows the \u2062resignation of Liz Magill, the Penn president, who also \u2062answered, almost verbatim, the same way\u200c that\u200c the\u2064 Harvard former president did,\u200d as well. And so did \u2062the MIT president, I might add. And I&#8217;ve called for all three\u200d of their resignations. It&#8217;s\u2062 not just me who called for \u2062the resignations. We \u200dpassed a vote, bipartisan, who called for the \u2062resignation on\u2064 the floor of Congress.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When asked about Gay&#8217;s claim that her ouster was part of a broader campaign to undermine American society&#8217;s pillars, Stefanik\u200b responded with a scathing rebuttal.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Well, I would\u2062 respond that she failed to stand up\u2062 for Jewish students on campus who have\u2064 been facing anti-Semitic attacks, who have been facing physical assault. We&#8217;ve seen that \u200dfootage. \u200cWe&#8217;ve \u2064heard that directly from students on campus. We&#8217;ve also heard faculty concerns about her tenure, and her \u200dposition, and her lack of academic integrity. But it really goes back to protecting Jewish students. And, frankly, when it comes to Harvard, the only time that \u2062Harvard has pled for academic freedom or freedom of speech was\u2062 when it comes to the genocide of the Jewish people.\u2064 That is inherently unfit for a person to be president of a university.\u200d It is part of a broader \u2062issue at these \u2063schools, which is why our investigation is so important. We&#8217;re going to look at DEI, which inherently has refused to bring up concerns from Jewish students \u200bof the rise\u2064 of anti-Semitic attacks. We&#8217;re going to look \u2062at foreign funding as well as taxpayer funding and the governance of these universities.
