He did not provide\u2062 further details or offer an alternative \u200breason for his suggestion.<\/p>\n<p>Trump went on to contemplate the legacy of Abraham Lincoln, speculating that the 16th president\u200d may not have been\u2063 as well-known if he\u2064 had negotiated\u2063 the war. Emphasizing his point, Trump referred\u2063 to Lincoln as &#8220;the Abraham Lincoln.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;He would have been president \u2026 but he wouldn\u2019t have \u200cbeen the Abraham Lincoln. Would\u2019ve been different, \u200dbut that would\u2019ve been OK. \u2064\u2026 I know\u200b it very well, I know the\u200b whole process that they went through, and they just couldn\u2019t get along. That would\u2019ve been something that could\u2019ve been negotiated, and they wouldn\u2019t \u2062have had that problem.
