There is no evidence that \u2064permit holders have\u200b caused problems \u2062in California or elsewhere\u200d in the country, but the new law will\u2063 prevent people\u200d from\u200c defending themselves. California has also jeopardized safety\u2063 in recent years by cutting police budgets and \u200delecting district attorneys who refuse to \u2064prosecute violent criminals.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Restrictions on Carrying Concealed Handguns<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>California now bans carrying concealed handguns in 26 types of locations, \u200bincluding parks, playgrounds, churches, banks, and zoos.<\/li>\n<li>Businesses are automatic gun-free zones unless they\u2063 post signs that explicitly \u2062allow people to carry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-201032887\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a3123a96fb2c4d59f5f97966f4f774c3 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a3123a96fb2c4d59f5f97966f4f774c3\"><\/div>\n<p>But to\u2063 make sure that no one\u2063 carries\u200c for protection, California\u2019s attorney \u200dgeneral \u200denacted new emergency rules in \u200bDecember that will \u2064strip nearly all firearms trainers\u200b of their licenses to train. California mandates 16 hours of training\u2064 to get a\u2063 permit, and\u200c this requirement\u200c will now be \u2064very difficult to fulfill.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/divided-federal-court-upholds-illinois-ban-on-assault-weapons\/\" title=\"Federal Court Upholds Illinois Ban on 'Assault Weapons'\">federal district court judge issued<\/a> a preliminary injunction against the new\u2064 restrictions on where permit holders can carry, saying that the\u2062 law is presumptively unconstitutional and\u200b unlikely to meet the\u2064 precedent \u200dset by the U.S. Supreme Court\u2019s 2022 <em>Bruen<\/em> \u2063decision.\u2062 This standard requires provisions to be \u201cconsistent with the Nation\u2019s\u2062 historical tradition of firearm regulation.\u201d Without explanation, however, a Democrat-dominated circuit court panel has stayed the injunction, allowing the\u200b new law \u2062to go into effect.<\/p>\n<p>While California is making the whole state a \u200cgun-free zone, criminologists and\u2064 economists who have published peer-reviewed research on gun control agreed that the top four \u2063policies \u200dto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/survey-majority-of-voters-say-stricter-gun-control-will-not-stop-shootings\/\" title=\"Survey: Majority of Voters Say Stricter Gun Control Will Not Stop Shootings\">stop mass public shootings<\/a> all involve getting \u2064rid of gun-free zones: Allow K-12 teachers to carry handguns,\u2064 allow military personnel \u2064to carry \u200don military bases, encourage the elimination of gun-free zones, and relax federal\u2062 regulations that pressure companies to create gun-free zones.<\/p>\n<p>Already having \u200dthe country\u2019s \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/you-know-what-would-deter-more-shootings-than-red-flag-laws-executing-mass-killers-quickly\/\" title=\"You Know What Would Deter More Shootings Than Red Flag Laws? Executing Mass Killers Quickly\">strictest gun-control laws<\/a>, \u2064California probably shouldn\u2019t present \u200citself as a role model\u2062 for the rest of the country. The\u2063 periods\u2064 after \u20632000, 2010, \u200dand 2020 show a \u2063consistent pattern: The per capita rate of mass public shootings in California is always greater than the rate for the rest of the country.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-bce4463ca8d1874b15ca6542e1002c23 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-bce4463ca8d1874b15ca6542e1002c23\"><\/div>\n<p>A new report by the Crime Prevention \u200dResearch \u2063Center (CPRC) shows that there are now more\u200b than 21.8 million concealed handgun\u200d permits in the United States. Far more\u200d people carry guns today than \u200bin 2007 when there were only 4.6 million permits. The report also \u2062finds, \u201cOutside of the restrictive states of California \u200cand \u200dNew York, about 10.1 percent of adults have \u200ba permit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But this understates the increase in concealed carry, \u200bas 27 states now no longer require a permit to carry in all or most of the state. To\u200d get an idea\u200b of how many \u2063people are carrying, the CPRC \u2063hired McLaughlin &#038; Associates to conduct a survey, which\u2063 found\u200c that \u200cnationwide \u201c15.6% of \u200bgeneral election voters carry concealed handguns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Findings also suggest that \u201cConcealed handgun permit holders are extremely law-abiding.\u201d In Florida and Texas, permit holders \u2063are convicted of firearms-related violations one-twelfth \u2063as much as police officers.<\/p>\n<p>Women are largely fueling \u2064the increase. \u200cAmong the states that published \u2064data from 2012-22\/23, the\u200d number of women with permits grew almost 111 percent faster than the number of men with permits. Among the states with 2023 data on sex, women now make up 29.1 percent of permit holders.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-246737b23aed0f6cd2e99409bd9a1524 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-246737b23aed0f6cd2e99409bd9a1524\"><\/div>\n<p>From 2015 to 2021\/2022\/2023, in the states that published data\u200d on race, the number of permits for\u200b black people increased nearly \u2063223 percent faster than the number of permits \u200dfor whites.\u2064 Blacks now make up roughly\u2062 13 percent of \u200cpermit holders. In addition, \u201cPermits for Asians grew 163.4% faster than whites.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The numbers show how out of sync \u2064California and New York are with\u200c the rest of the\u200c country. In those places, where public officials arbitrarily decide who gets a permit,\u2064 only a\u2063 few \u200dadults out of every thousand have permits (mostly in rural counties).\u200b People \u2064in most states don\u2019t think twice about being\u200b surrounded by concealed carry\u2064 in restaurants, theaters, or stores. \u200dIn Potter County, Pennsylvania, on \u2062the New York state \u200cline, more \u200bthan half of adults have a permit.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, LA Weekly obtained the names of permit \u2062holders in\u200d Los Angeles \u200cCounty, and the\u2062 Crime Prevention Research Center\u2063 did some investigating. There were\u200c 341\u200b permits for almost 8 million adults. \u200cOnly the \u2063political elite got them: judges, reserve deputy sheriffs, and a small \u200bgroup\u2063 of \u200cvery wealthy, well-connected individuals. I found\u2063 that women got \u200dabout 7.6 percent and blacks about \u200d5 percent. Hispanics made up almost half of the county\u2019s population, but\u2062 they apparently only had about 6.5 \u2062percent of\u200b permits.<\/p>\n<p>My\u200b research has demonstrated that the two groups that benefit\u200b the most \u200cfrom carrying guns\u200d are the likeliest victims of crime \u2062(low-income blacks in high-crime urban areas) and \u2064physically\u200c weaker people (women and the elderly). Dozens of published peer-reviewed studies\u2063 find similar results. In the past few years, those who benefit\u2064 the\u2064 most from carrying concealed handguns \u2062have been getting them.<\/p>\n<p>Police are the most \u2063important factor in fighting crime, but they almost always arrive on\u200d the scene after an offense.\u200c We have to let people protect themselves\u200d \u2014 and it shouldn\u2019t just be a \u2064privilege of the wealthy and well-connected. The most\u200d vulnerable people are the ones who benefit\u200d the\u200c most from having guns.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2>Why banning guns is a bad idea?<\/h2>\n<p><span>Criminals,\u200d by definition, do not obey\u2062 the law. Gun control laws only affect law-abiding people who \u200bgo through legal avenues to obtain\u200b firearms. Criminals\u2062 overwhelmingly\u2063 obtain their \u200dfirearms\u2063 through illegal channels and will never be deterred by\u2063 state and federal laws. Rly 68 \u2062percent faster than the number \u200dof permits for white people. This suggests that \u200bconcealed carry permits are empowering marginalized communities and\u2062 providing them with a means of self-defense.<\/p>\n<h3>Impact on Self-Defense<\/h3>\n<p>The ban on carrying concealed handguns in California \u200cposes a significant threat to the ability of individuals to defend\u2062 themselves. By prohibiting the carrying of firearms in various locations such as parks, churches, and banks, the law\u200b effectively denies law-abiding citizens their\u200b right to protect\u2062 themselves \u2064and\u200d their loved\u200d ones.<\/p>\n<p>Studies have consistently shown that gun-free zones are vulnerable\u200c targets for criminals and mass shooters. By\u2064 designating entire states, like California, as gun-free zones, policymakers are\u2063 ignoring the evidence-based\u200b strategies \u200bthat have been proven to\u200c deter such incidents. Allowing trained individuals, such as K-12 teachers \u200band military \u2062personnel, to carry guns in specific locations has\u2062 been demonstrated to\u200c be an effective\u2064 deterrent. However, California&#8217;s restrictive policies prevent the \u2062implementation of \u2063these proven solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, \u2064recent \u2062changes\u200d in California&#8217;s regulations that strip firearms trainers of their licenses severely\u2062 limit the\u2062 ability \u200dof individuals to obtain\u2062 the necessary training required\u2063 to obtain a concealed carry permit. By making it more difficult \u200dfor people to fulfill the training requirements, the state\u2064 effectively hinders law-abiding citizens from exercising their right\u2064 to self-defense.<\/p>\n<h3>Questionable Effectiveness of Gun-Control Laws in California<\/h3>\n<p>California prides itself on having some of the strictest gun-control laws in the country. \u200cHowever, \u2064the results of\u2063 these policies do\u200c not \u2062reflect their desired outcomes. Historical data consistently shows that California experiences higher rates of mass shootings compared to the rest of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Crime Prevention Research Center&#8217;s report highlights\u200c that the number of concealed \u2062handgun permits in the United States has increased significantly over \u200bthe years, \u2064indicating a \u2063growing recognition and demand \u200cfor self-defense options. This trend is\u2062 particularly evident\u2063 in states with more permissive concealed carry laws.<\/p>\n<p>The report also underscores the law-abiding nature\u2063 of concealed \u2063carry permit \u200bholders. They are statistically proven to have extremely low rates \u2063of firearms-related violations, even \u200dlower than those of police officers.\u2064 This data contradicts the \u2064misconception that \u200ban increase in\u2062 concealed\u200d carry permits results \u200bin \u2063increased crime rates.<\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion<\/h3>\n<p>California&#8217;s ban \u200con carrying concealed handguns \u2063in numerous locations and the restrictive regulations surrounding \u2063training requirements are detrimental to the \u200cfundamental right of self-defense.
