Gov. \u2062Spencer Cox (R-UT) has also endorsed \u2063Wilson in the race.<\/p>\n<p>But both candidates must now face their greatest challenger\u2062 in\u200b Rep. John Curtis (R-UT), who announced \u2063he\u200d would \u200crun for the seat on Tuesday \u2014 making him one of the\u2063 most prominent names in \u2064the field.<\/p>\n<p>Curtis initially said he would not run for Senate last\u200c year, citing the\u2063 endorsements his opponents managed to secure and fundraising\u2062 from \u201cpeople who\u2064 might otherwise support me,\u201d he told \u2062KSL TV. Orrin Hatch, who \u200bserved in \u200bthe Senate for 42 years before retiring in 2019. \u200bAt the time of his retirement, he was the\u2062 longest-serving Republican senator in U.S. history. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) holds that \u200ddistinction as of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Other candidates who have filed or previously said \u200cthey intend to file \u200cinclude Carolyn Phippen, a former\u2064 staffer for\u2062 Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT); attorney Chandler Tanner; activist Ty Jense; accountant Josh Randall; Clark White; and Robert Newcomb.
