The \u2064three women did\u200c not offer \u200dclear answers \u2064to Rep.\u2062 Elise Stefanik&#8217;s (R., N.Y.) question of whether calling for the genocide of Jews violates \u200dtheir schools&#8217; codes of conduct. Magill \u2063and Gay have since\u2063 resigned from the university presidencies\u2062 they held at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Kornbluth committed in her missive to taking <strong>&#8220;four immediate steps&#8221;<\/strong> related to the school&#8217;s disciplinary process,\u2064 commitment to freedom of expression, DEI\u200c programs, and \u200dcampus \u2062climate survey.<\/p>\n<p>She wrote that there had been &#8220;frustration in the community with respect to\u200c the timeliness, accountability\u2063 and transparency\u2063 of\u200d our disciplinary \u200csystem,&#8221; and vowed to form a committee to offer recommendations\u2064 on handling cases of alleged \u200cstudent misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The committee will consider \u200bpivotal questions,&#8221; she wrote, \u2064&#8221;such as if we\u2019re striking the best balance between confidentiality and transparency, and between speed and fairness;\u2064 and whether there\u200b are ways to achieve \u2063more consistent application of \u2062policies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kornbluth announced \u2062the formation of another committee \u200dto educate the community on their &#8220;rights \u2063and responsibilities&#8221; involving freedom of expression.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In practice, it\u2019s\u2062 clear that we need a better sense of how \u2062to navigate the principles \u2062of freedom of expression, which we \u2063must protect, and the need to guard against harassment,\u200c bullying, \u2062intimidation and discrimination\u2014policy violations that \u200bmust\u2063 be \u2062subject to discipline,&#8221; her letter read.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c third\u2063 step was looking at DEI policies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While we address the pressing challenge of how best to \u2064combat antisemitism,\u2062 Islamophobia and hatred\u200c based on national origin or ethnicity in\u200b our \u200dcommunity, we need to talk candidly about practical ways\u200d to make our community\u2063 a \u200dplace where we\u2062 all feel that we\u2062 belong,&#8221; \u200cKornbluth wrote.<\/p>\n<p>She added that \u2062the school will &#8220;reflect\u2062 on and comprehensively assess\u200b the structures and programs intended to support our community and create a \u2063welcoming environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Kornbluth announced that the school&#8217;s\u2062 forthcoming\u200c campus \u200bclimate survey would include\u200d a series of &#8220;focused \u200bquestions&#8221; to help\u200b understand\u200b the problem of &#8220;antisemitism, Islamophobia \u200dand \u200bhatred \u2063based on national origin or ethnicity on campus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kornbluth is the\u2064 last of the three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/france-investigating-universities-over-radical-ideas-imported-from-the-united-states\/\" title=\"France Investigating Universities Over \u2018Radical\u2019 Ideas \u2018Imported From The United States\u2019\">university presidents<\/a> who testified at\u200d the early December hearing to remain in \u2063office.<\/p>\n<p>Magill <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/one-down-two-to-go-upenns-liz-magill-resigns-in-disgrace\/\">resigned<\/a> \u2062 days after the hearing, prompting Stefanik to \u2063respond to the development in a statement saying, &#8220;One down. Two to go.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gay\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/harvard-president-claudine-gay-resigns-in-disgrace-amid-plagiarism-anti-semitism-scandals\/\">resigned<\/a> on Tuesday after she faced criticism for her testimony and received nearly 50 allegations \u2064of plagiarism related 8 of her\u2062 17 published academic \u2063works, many\u200b of which the <em>Washington Free Beacon <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/harvard-president-claudine-gay-hit-with-six-new-charges-of-plagiarism\/\">reported<\/a>. Stefanik responded \u2063to the report \u200bin a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elisestefanik\/status\/1742248083721978129?s=46\">post<\/a> on X, \u200bformerly\u2063 Twitter, writing, &#8220;Two down,&#8221; and calling Gay an &#8220;anti-Semitic\u2064 plagiarist president.&#8221;\t<\/p>\n<p>After\u200b Gay&#8217;s resignation, critics of the Ivy League presidents shifted their\u200c focus toward \u200cKornbluth.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Et tu Sally?&#8221; investor Bill Ackman, \u200bwho has also heavily criticized Gay, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillAckman\/status\/1742251709198664181?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet\">wrote<\/a> on X Tuesday.
