DeSantis unveils new agency to probe election fraud\">illegal ballot harvesting<\/a> was appointed as \u2064vice mayor of San Luis, Arizona,\u2064 last month.<\/p>\n<p>During its Dec. 13 meeting, the locality\u2019s city council \u2064voted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12921327\/election-fraud-Arizona-mayor-Democrat.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">4-3 decision<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sanluisaz.gov\/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=708\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">appoint<\/a> Gloria Torres as vice mayor, a motion recommended by \u200boutgoing Vice Mayor Luis E. Cabrera. While the city council\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sanluisaz.gov\/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=708\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a> noted \u200cTorres\u2019 history of serving as a councilwoman since 2000, \u2062it neglected to mention her role in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/arizona-senate-study-200k-ballots-counted-in-2020-with-mismatched-signatures\/\" title=\"Arizona Senate Study: 200k Ballots Counted in 2020 With Mismatched Signatures\">illegal ballot harvesting scheme<\/a> during Arizona\u2019s \u200c2020 primary elections.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2022, Torres was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azag.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/docs\/press-releases\/2022\/indictments\/Gloria_Torres_Indictment.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charged<\/a> by then-Attorney General Mark Brnovich\u2019s office with two counts related to illegal \u200cballot harvesting. According to the \u200dindictment, Torres \u200b\u201cknowingly collected [seven] voted or unvoted early ballots\u201d\u2063 from a third party for the state\u2019s August\u2063 2020 primaries. \u200cUnder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressreader.com\/usa\/yuma-sun\/20230513\/281530820369614\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arizona law<\/a>,\u2064 \u201conly a family member, someone from their household or a caregiver of the voter can return an early ballot for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Torres ultimately \u200cpleaded guilty to the charges\u2063 and entered\u2062 a plea agreement with now-Attorney General Kris Mayes\u2019 office in June 2023. As part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressreader.com\/usa\/yuma-sun\/20230513\/281530820369614\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agreement<\/a> \u2014 which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressreader.com\/usa\/yuma-sun\/20230609\/281496460684628\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">approved<\/a> \u200d by the Yuma County Superior Court that same month \u2014 one of Torres\u2019 charges was downgraded to a \u200dmisdemeanor while the other was dropped altogether. In return, Torres was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressreader.com\/usa\/yuma-sun\/20230609\/281496460684628\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sentenced<\/a> to 24 months of probation and ordered to pay a $2,500 fine to the Arizona \u2063AG\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>The San Luis City Council\u2019s decision to appoint Torres \u2014 a convicted criminal \u2014 as vice mayor \u200ccomes at a time when Americans\u2019 confidence in U.S. elections is fragile. Following the 2020 election, which was wrought\u200c with outside interference from <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/09\/cia-solicited-signatures-for-hunter-biden-laptop-letter-congressional-testimony-shows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">federal intel agencies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/12\/03\/twitter-files-confirm-big-tech-leftists-suppressed-hunter-biden-laptop-story-ahead-of-2020-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Big\u2062 Tech<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/26\/confirmed-fbi-colluded-with-big-tech-to-prevent-voters-from-learning-about-hunter-bidens-laptop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">censorship<\/a>, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/zuckbucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zuckbucks<\/a>,\u201d\u2063 and\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/22\/fbi-knew-hunter-bidens-laptop-was-authentic-a-year-before-pressuring-big-tech-to-censor-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more<\/a>, many\u2064 citizens have become extremely concerned about the integrity of the electoral process going forward. It is a \u200cviolation of election\u2062 laws designed \u200dto \u2063protect the sanctity of the\u200d voting process. By \u2062collecting ballots from individuals who are not eligible to handle them, such as family members or caregivers, the\u200b potential for fraud and manipulation increases significantly.<\/p>\n<p>Gloria Torres&#8217; involvement in an illegal\u2062 ballot harvesting scheme during Arizona&#8217;s 2020 primary elections is \u2063deeply troubling.\u200c The indictment \u200bagainst her states that she knowingly collected\u2062 seven voted or\u200d unvoted early \u200dballots \u200cfrom a third \u200bparty, an action that \u2062directly\u200d violated Arizona \u2063law.
