Perez won the initial race by receiving 50.5%⁣ of the vote over the Trump-endorsed Kent.

Kent has secured early endorsements from the state ⁤Republican Party and a number of county ⁣GOP parties. He does risk a‌ potential primary ‍challenger in Leslie Lewallen, although it remains unclear how she’ll hold up in the primary. Lewallen argues that Kent ⁤is “too extreme,” which led to voters either not voting in 2022 or casting a ballot for Perez. Kent’s team blames Republicans for spending money to oppose him in the 2022 election.

The district is‌ believed to be +5 points in favor of Republicans, according to the Cook Political Report, which means Perez may have an uphill battle⁣ in retaining ‌her seat.

Rep.
