Her\u200d husband Gadi, 73, was \u200cthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elderly-man-first-american-to-die-as-hamas-hostage-israel-community-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first American<\/a> reported dead in Hamas\u200d captivity last week.<\/p>\n<p>The morning of the\u2063 attack, Judi and\u2062 Gadi \u2062were out for a walk when Hamas\u2062 launched their assault on Israel. The couple was taken\u2064 hostage from Kibbutz Nir Oz after being shot by the terrorists. Tragically, Judi was murdered during the attack, and her body is \u200ccurrently being held in Gaza by the terrorists, as reported\u2064 by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/liveblog_entry\/israeli-american-judith-weinstein-was-murdered-on-oct-7-her-body-being-held-in-gaza-kibbutz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Times of Israel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cShe was a poet and\u2062 an entrepreneur who loved to create and was dedicated\u2062 to working\u200c for peace and friendship,\u201d Kibbutz Nir Oz said in a statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Judi and Gadi, who moved to Israel from the U.S. around 30 years ago, \u2062leave \u2064behind their children living in Colorado, Singapore, and Israel, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/judi-haggai-becomes-second-american-hostage-die-gaza-during-israel-hamas-war\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>. Judi, an English teacher specializing in children with special needs, was \u200balso known for using meditation techniques to help children cope with anxiety caused by years of rocket fire\u2063 near the Gaza border.<\/p>\n<p>On the day\u200d of the attack, Judi\u200d and Gadi sought refuge in a field. Judi managed to contact a member of the kibbutz, informing them that she and her husband had been shot \u2013 \u2063Judi in the arm and Gadi in the\u200b head\u2063 \u2013 and desperately needed help. Unfortunately, an ambulance dispatched to their location was attacked and\u2063 never \u200breached them.\u200c Since then, the couple had been \u2062missing and presumed captive in Gaza, according to the\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/12\/28\/news\/judi-weinstein-haggai-new-york-native-held-hostage-in-gaza-has-been-killed\/\">New York\u2062 Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, six other Americans are believed to be held hostage by\u200c Hamas in \u200bGaza.
