Suhr argues that preferential treatment in internship programs undermines competitiveness \u2063and \u2063harms all \u2063Americans.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit is based on a \u2063recent Supreme \u200bCourt\u200b decision that declared race-based admissions programs, commonly known as &#8220;affirmative\u2063 action,&#8221; unconstitutional. \u2064In Students for Fair \u2062Admissions Inc. v. \u2064Harvard, the\u200c Court ruled 6-3 against considering\u2064 race in \u200dcollege\u200d admissions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[RELATED:[RELATED:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/29\/ending-affirmative-action-wont-stop-the-university-systems-racist-admissions-practices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ending Affirmative \u200bAction Won\u2019t Stop The University \u200cSystem\u2019s Racist Admissions Practices<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit argues \u200cthat the\u2064 State \u2063Bar \u2062of \u2062Wisconsin&#8217;s &#8220;Diversity Clerkship Program,&#8221; \u200bwhich\u200d has provided paid internships to 600 law students, is just as unconstitutional as \u2063affirmative action\u200c in student admissions.<\/p>\n<p>The program, advertised on the\u200b State \u200cBar \u2064of Wisconsin&#8217;s website, offers a 10-week\u2064 paid summer employment \u200copportunity\u2064 for first-year law students from historically excluded backgrounds. However, applicants must also\u200b demonstrate a commitment to\u200b diversity and academic \u200cachievement.<\/p>\n<p>WILL\u2063 claims that the State Bar of Wisconsin is violating the\u200d First Amendment\u2062 rights of its dues-paying members, \u2063citing\u2064 the 1990 Supreme Court decision in Keller \u2064v. \u2062State Bar\u200c of California.
