However, one leader stands out as the least favored, even among ⁢members of his own party: Senate Minority Leader ‌Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

According to a recent poll conducted by Monmouth University, only 6% of voters approve of McConnell’s performance ⁤as the Republican leader in the Senate, while ⁣a staggering⁤ 60% disapprove. ‍Another 34% expressed no opinion ⁣about the⁤ minority leader.

McConnell’s Approval Rating‍ Hits Rock Bottom

Even within his own party, McConnell’s numbers remain abysmal. Only ⁣10% of Republican voters‌ approve ⁤of his job performance, while 41% hold the opposite⁢ view, ⁣as revealed by the poll. This makes‌ McConnell the sole leader in ⁣Congress to have ‌a net negative ‌approval rating among his own voter base. The ⁢Washington Examiner reached out to McConnell’s spokesperson for‍ comment, but no response⁣ has been received.

Schumer Outperforms McConnell, ‍but Still Faces Challenges

On the Democratic side, Senate Majority Leader Chuck ‍Schumer ⁣(D-NY) fares better, with 21% of voters approving ⁢of his job⁢ performance, according to ‍the poll. However, 41% expressed disapproval, and ⁣38% had ‍no opinion.

Within his⁣ own party,⁢ Schumer‍ garners higher approval ratings, with 48% of Democratic voters supporting him compared to just 18% who hold ‍the opposite view.‍ Another 34%⁤ expressed no⁤ opinion.

House Leaders Face Mixed Reviews

Over in ⁢the House, both House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and House Minority Leader Hakeem⁤ Jeffries (D-NY) receive favorable ratings from their party bases. However, a significant portion of voters expressed no opinion about the two leaders.

The poll shows that 17% of voters believe‌ Johnson is doing a good job as‍ the newly elected speaker, while ⁣31% hold the opposite view. However, a staggering 51% expressed no opinion about his job performance.

Jeffries fared slightly better, with 21% of voters approving of his job performance compared to 22% who ⁢disapproved. However, the majority of voters (56%) had no opinion.

Overall Disapproval of Congress

Overall, ‌the poll reveals‍ that an overwhelming majority of voters (77%) disapprove of Congress as a whole, with only 17% ‍expressing approval of its job performance so far this year.

The Monmouth University poll surveyed 803 voters between November 30 and December 4, with a margin of error of approximately 4.8⁤ percentage points.

Click⁣ here⁣ to read more from the Washington Examiner.

In what ways has McConnell’s public image and perception as a career politician affected his approval ratings among Americans

Performance, while ⁣a staggering⁤ 72% disapprove. This marks a significant ⁢drop in support for ‌McConnell, as only two years ago, ‍a‍ poll conducted by the same university showed that 46% of Republicans approved of‌ his performance as Senate Majority Leader.

McConnell’s low approval ratings can be attributed to a variety of factors. One major issue that has plagued him⁤ is his handling of key legislative priorities. Despite having control of the⁤ Senate for much of his tenure, McConnell has faced criticism for failing to deliver on⁣ major ‌campaign promises, such as repealing and ‌replacing the Affordable Care Act.

Furthermore, McConnell’s leadership ‌style has been a⁣ source of frustration for many. Critics argue that he ⁢is too focused on partisan politics, prioritizing⁤ the needs of⁢ his party over the needs of the American people. His decision to block former President Barack Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland⁢ to the Supreme Court in ‍2016 is often cited as an example of this partisan approach.

Another factor contributing to McConnell’s low ‍approval ratings is his ⁢public image. Many Americans view him as a career politician who‍ is ⁢out of touch with the concerns of everyday citizens. This perception was further reinforced during the contentious confirmation process‍ of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, where McConnell was⁣ seen as pushing through the appointment despite widespread public opposition.

Despite ‌these dismal approval ratings, McConnell shows no signs ⁣of stepping down or⁤ changing his leadership ⁣approach. He continues to wield great power and ⁣influence within⁣ the ⁤Republican Party, particularly on key issues ⁢such as judicial appointments. However, the ⁤low approval ratings⁤ do have implications for McConnell’s effectiveness as a leader. It becomes increasingly difficult for him to rally support‍ and push through his party’s agenda when a majority of Americans and a significant portion of his own party do not approve of his ⁣performance.

As Congress prepares for the new year, it remains ⁤to be seen how McConnell’s low‌ approval ratings will impact his ability to lead. Will he be ⁣able to regain the⁣ trust and support of his constituents? Or will his divisive leadership style and‍ failure to deliver on⁣ key promises continue to erode his standing? Only time will tell.

Each party leader in Congress has low approval ratings as lawmakers head home for the holidays after a turbulent year.
