I can see that as a commentator,&#8221; Shapiro continued. &#8220;But you obviously have the\u2064 military expertise and military experience.\u200b You\u2019ve been in these situations. What exactly is it\u2063 that \u200bIsrael is facing in the Gaza Strip?&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kennedy, who was on the ground in Israel in\u2064 the days \u200bfollowing the October 7 attack for rescue operations, explained to Shapiro that Israel&#8217;s \u2064task of taking out an insurgency, and the way they are doing\u200c it, is &#8220;historically\u200d nearly \u200dimpossible&#8221; due to the nature of the terrorists&#8217; actions.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;What \u200cwe see Israel trying to do right now\u200d is\u2064 identify military targets that are in Gaza, that are the\u200d Hamas terrorist organization,&#8221; the decorated veteran said. &#8220;We don\u2019t want to just leave October 7 as\u2062 the standalone thing that has happened because that\u2019s intellectually inaccurate and historically wrong. Hamas has a\u200b long history of attacking Israel on countless occasions \u2014\u200b not just intifadas, not just\u200d big assaults and attacks and the things that we\u2062 saw on October 7, and terrorist\u200c attacks. But it has been a constant execution of this long plan of trying to incite Israel so they\u2019ll lose in a propaganda battle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Israel\u200c is trying to do\u2063 the right thing, they\u2019re just doing it \u200cthe\u2063 wrong way, and this is just my opinion,&#8221; Kennedy explained. &#8220;They are trying to limit as\u2064 many civilian casualties with a group that are intentionally hiding amongst civilians, and a populist that, frankly, is sympathetic to Hamas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;When Hamas was\u2062 returning \u2062from the attacks to the Palestinians, into Gaza, what \u200bwe saw was\u200d rejoicing in the streets,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;They were excited about the success of the attack. They were getting constant updates \u2064inside of Gaza. And you \u2064can find the videos, you don\u2019t have to trust\u200b my word. You can go and look\u2063 at the Palestinians rejoicing at\u2062 the death\u200b of 1400 people, \u200btaking out 200 captives; the rape, torture, and murder of children and Holocaust \u200csurvivors. It\u2019s atrocious.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And Israel now \u200bhas to go block by block, door \u2062by door, \u200bfighting an embedded insurgency,&#8221; he \u200cexplained. &#8220;And they\u2019re trying to do it in a way that is acceptable to \u2063the world. And that\u2019s the problem\u2062 right there, Ben.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy went on\u2063 to explain the difficulty of current battles between democratic nations like the U.S. and \u200bIsrael and insurgencies, such as what we see\u200b in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re not going to be able to \u200bfight the state-on-state thing that we so desperately have \u200cbeen wanting to fight,&#8221; Kennedy said. &#8220;The last time America was truly a dominant aggressor in a war was in WWII. Since then, we\u200d have not really decidedly won any wars. And it\u2019s because of what\u2019s happening here in Gaza \u2014 it\u2019s a perfect example of it. They\u2019re not fighting by the rules that Israel is fighting by. They\u2019re hiding in hospitals, they\u2019re hiding behind women, they\u2019re intentionally taking their military equipment and positioning it at schools. These are the things that\u200b terrorist organizations and insurgencies do. And these\u2064 are not the things that a proper military would do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So it\u2019s a hard battle, and every time \u2062that you try to take a block, you\u2019re of course going to incur\u2063 civilian casualties, because the bad \u200dguys are hiding with the civilians intentionally and using them as human shields,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So any time an Israeli\u200b soldier tries \u2062to move to try and find\u200b insurgents, of course there\u2019s going to be a civilian casualty because \u2062that\u2019s \u200bwhat Hamas wants, and that then continues this revolving door \u200dof propaganda.
