The \u200dmajority of these vacancies\u200b would be due to a recent surge in retirement\u200c announcements, though a number\u2062 of seat \u2064vacancies are due to grander ambitions (aspirations \u2062to be a senator, for example.)<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the reason for \u2062those\u200d vacancies, the importance of them cannot be overstated.<\/p>\n<p>First and foremost, the George Santos <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/george-santos-seems-thin-skinned-liar-doesnt-mean-shouldve-expelled-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">debacle<\/a> has left Republicans with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/attorneys-for-trailing-democrat-candidate-claim-voting-machine-count-errors\/\" title=\"Attorneys For Trailing Democrat Candidate Claim Voting Machine Count \u2018Errors\u2019\">razor-thin margin<\/a> in the House. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/about.bgov.com\/brief\/balance-of-power-republican-majority-in-the-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a>, Republicans are currently \u201cenjoying\u201d an eight-seat advantage, 221-213.<\/p>\n<p>Any gains made \u2014 and any\u2063 losses endured \u2014 could have seismic effects on that margin.<\/p>\n<p>That, in turn, \u200ccould have\u2064 major implications on \u2062the ability to help a future President Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-slams-biden-environmental-executive-orders\/\" title=\"GOP slams Biden environmental executive orders\">pass legislation<\/a>, or block future legislation from Biden. Just think of how flaccid a presidency can be when he\u2019s staunchly\u200c opposed by either\u2064 the House or Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Secondly, some of\u200d those 22 Democrat \u200bvacancies are\u200c eminently winnable.<\/p>\n<p>A trio of North Carolina Representatives, Wiley Nickel, Kathy Manning and Jeff \u200bJackson, occupied seats in \u200bdistricts that were actually pro-Trump.<\/p>\n<p>(Due to redistricting, it may\u2063 not be a 1:1 snapshot of Trump\u2019s performance in North Carolina, but the potential to be flipped remains.)<\/p>\n<p>And this isn\u2019t to suggest that every\u2064 seat in a pro-Biden district \u2062is unattainable.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan Rep. Dan Kildee, Virginia\u200d Rep. Abigail\u200c Spanberger and Michigan Rep. Elissa Slotkin are all vacating seats in districts that Biden barely won by two, seven and one point, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Given the tumult that Biden is currently \u200cfacing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rough-numbers-cnn-breaks-bad-news-biden-shows-trump-leading-2-critical-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in\u200b Michigan<\/a>, the Kildee and Slotkin seats \u2064feel especially obtainable.<\/p>\n<p>If Republicans can flip even just one of those vulnerable North \u200bCarolina seats on top of \u2062those two hypothetical Michigan seats (and obviously keep what they currently\u2064 have), the division of power in the House would look something like a 224-210 advantage for Republicans \u2014\u200d a much more sizable lead that offers some breathing room when trying to pass legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this is all \u2064conjecture \u200dand won\u2019t \u2064matter a lick if you don\u2019t \u2063go out to vote.<\/p>\n<p>So yes, please, go\u2062 out and vote for the big-ticket name that you think should be the next commander in chief\u200c of this country. That is obvious and very\u200d important.<\/p>\n<p>But also keep in mind those smaller ticket names vying for House seats.
