To be considered for preservation, a film \u200cmust be at least a decade old.<\/p>\n<p>This year, two films from 2013 made the cut: &#8220;12 Years a Slave&#8221; and\u2064 &#8220;20 Feet from Stardom.&#8221; Additionally, the list includes films from as far back as 1921, such as &#8220;A Movie Trip\u200b Through Filmland&#8221; and 1933&#8217;s &#8220;Dinner at\u200b Eight.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>From the 1950s, films like &#8220;Bohulano Family \u200cFilm Collection,&#8221; \u200d&#8221;Helen Keller: In Her Story,&#8221; &#8220;Lady \u2062and the Tramp,&#8221; and\u2064 &#8220;Edge of the City&#8221; were chosen for preservation.<\/p>\n<p>The 1970s\u2063 saw the selection\u200c of films like \u200d&#8221;We&#8217;re Alive,&#8221; &#8220;Cruisin&#8217; \u200dJ-Town,&#8221; &#8220;\u00a1Alambrista!,&#8221; and &#8220;Passing\u200c Through,&#8221; while the 1980s were represented by\u2063 &#8220;Fame,&#8221; &#8220;Desperately Seeking Susan,&#8221; &#8220;The Lighted Field,&#8221; and &#8220;Matewan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 1990s had a \u200ctotal of seven films selected, including &#8220;Terminator 2&#8221; and &#8220;Home Alone,&#8221; as well as \u2062&#8221;Queen of Diamonds,&#8221; &#8220;The Nightmare Before Christmas,&#8221; &#8220;The \u200cWedding Banquet,&#8221; &#8220;Maya Lin: A \u2064Strong Clear Vision,&#8221; and &#8220;Apollo 13.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Two films from\u200b 2000, &#8220;Bamboozled&#8221; and &#8220;Love &#038; Basketball,&#8221; also \u2062made the prestigious list.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that &#8220;Terminator\u200c 2&#8221; joins its predecessor, 1984&#8217;s &#8220;The Terminator,&#8221; in the archive, both directed by James Cameron, who was celebrated by the Library of Congress for creating a sequel\u2062 that\u2062 lived\u2064 up to its predecessor.<\/p>\n<p>The selection process for the 25 films was no easy \u2062task, as\u200d they were chosen from\u2062 a pool of 6,860 nominations\u200b made by 2,880 members of the public.<\/p>\n<p>If you believe there&#8217;s a \u2062film worthy of preservation,\u2063 you can nominate it for\u200b consideration by the National Film Registry.
