Ron DeSantis. Both are a distant second and\u2063 third to\u200b Trump\u200d (60.3 percent for Trump vs. 12.6 percent for DeSantis vs. 12.1 percent for Haley).<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s also third\u200d in\u200c the Iowa caucus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/epolls\/2024\/president\/ia\/2024_iowa_republican_presidential_caucus-8164.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polling<\/a> \u2014 again, with both DeSantis and her well in Trump\u2019s rear-view mirror\u200c \u2014 and\u200d a\u200b distant second in\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/epolls\/2024\/president\/nh\/2024_new_hampshire_republican_presidential_primary-7396.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New\u2063 Hampshire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In all three\u2064 departments, however,\u2063 it\u2019s worth noting that Haley is the \u2062only candidate with \u2062a sustained upward trajectory at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis reached\u2063 the point of diminishing \u200breturns\u2062 in late\u2064 spring. While his campaign is confident\u200d in a \u200dstrong Iowa showing, he would need\u2063 a comeback \u2062of Joe Biden- or\u2062 John Kerry-esque proportions\u200d to \u200dwin\u200d the nomination.<\/p>\n<p>Other candidates who have had their moments \u2014 businessman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/vivek-ramaswamy-doubles-cnn-anchor-confronts-jan-6-inside-job\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vivek Ramaswamy<\/a>, South Carolina Sen.\u2063 Tim Scott, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie\u2064 \u2014 have fallen back \u200bto \u200cearth or \u200bwithdrawn entirely.<\/p>\n<p>Given the long odds and passing \u200cdeadlines, there\u2019s\u200d no\u2064 unknown challenger (i.e., Virginia Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jim-acosta-governor-glenn-youngkin-running-soviet-style-police-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glenn Youngkin<\/a>) waiting just offstage to charge in at the last second.<\/p>\n<p>So, if you\u2019re a Republican primary voter and you\u2019re not casting your ballot for Trump, it\u2019s basically 1) \u2064DeSantis, 2) Haley or\u2064 3) setting it ablaze.\u200b (Look, heating costs are high this winter. Got to do something.)<\/p>\n<h3>The Appeal of \u200dNikki Haley: A Winning Track Record<\/h3>\n<p>And Haley is, for better or worse, the woman of the moment. \u2062She has a Trump \u2064connection, in that\u2064 she served in \u2063his administration. She\u2019s also suitably anti-Trump enough, given that she\u2063 disavowed him after the events of the 2020 election, that the establishment media can take her in small \u200ddoses \u2014 unless she\u2063 won\u200c the nomination,\u200c of\u2062 course, in which case they would go back to pummeling her.<\/p>\n<p>So,\u2062 if you are kicking the tires on a non-Trump\u200d candidate, it may well behoove you to ask what\u2019s to\u200c like about Haley.<\/p>\n<p>Well, there are plenty of things, don\u2019t get me wrong. However, part of Haley\u2019s\u200b brand is winning. She\u2019s happy\u200b to tell you that she keeps on \u2064winning elections\u2062 \u2014 with the\u2064 implication being\u2064 that, after 2020, she\u2019s more electable than Trump is.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, take this from a May profile in <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4016116-nikki-haley-iowa-2024-retail-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHaley,\u200c the former governor of South Carolina, is fond of reminding skeptics that she \u200chas never lost an election.
