Kevin McCarthy Casts Final Vote as He Prepares to Leave \u200cCongress<\/h2>\n<p>After nearly 17 years in Congress, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) bid farewell \u200bto the House on Thursday, marking the end of his tenure. McCarthy&#8217;s journey in the political arena\u2063 has been nothing short\u200c of dramatic, with a rise to the position of\u2064 speaker followed\u200c by a historic removal from the same role.<\/p>\n<h3>Reflecting on His Time\u2064 as Speaker<\/h3>\n<p>During an interview\u2064 with a small group of reporters, McCarthy took the opportunity to air his grievances, reminisce about his time as speaker, and discuss his plans for the future. He&#8217;s doing everything to make sure it doesn&#8217;t come out,\u2063 and\u2063 that means he doesn&#8217;t care about anything else.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy alleges that Gaetz&#8217;s campaign to remove him was motivated \u200cby the ongoing investigation into Gaetz by the House Ethics Committee. McCarthy humorously remarked, &#8220;He&#8217;s just, you know, there&#8217;s people that study that type of crazy, right, mainly the FBI.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In response to McCarthy&#8217;s statements, Gaetz sarcastically offered his &#8220;thoughts and prayers&#8221; to \u200dthe former congressman.<\/p>\n<h3>Leaving Congress with No Regrets<\/h3>\n<p>Following his removal as speaker, McCarthy \u2062made the decision to leave Congress at the \u2064end of the year.
