Newsom&#8217;s team later\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/were-done-newsoms-wife-intervened-to-end-debate-against-desantis-report-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a> that \u2062the debate was &#8220;rigged.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Newsom&#8217;s Strong Words Against \u200dDeSantis<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m dead serious about this. I have developed a lot of animus towards him because of his animus towards all of you,&#8221; Newsom passionately declared. &#8220;You\u200b know,\u200c this guy&#8217;s out there scapegoating vulnerable communities. \u200bHe&#8217;s\u200c attacking \u200dminorities, \u200cattacking \u2063women, and I don&#8217;t like it. And I wanted to push back against it. And I felt like the party was a little timid \u2063on all this. I mean,\u2062 you know, he&#8217;s out there talking about anti-woke, and I mean this, for me, it&#8217;s not anti-woke. So for me, it&#8217;s a very serious moment where I just felt it was important to\u2064 blow back\u2063 against that, against that narrative,\u200c and hold these guys accountable \u2062on a network where they don&#8217;t hear from guys like me ever.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, Newsom&#8217;s claims about DeSantis attacking women and minorities lacked evidence, and his statements about Florida&#8217;s African American history curriculum \u2062were proven to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/top-black-academic-who-co-created-floridas-african-american-history-curriculum-shreds-democrat-lies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inaccurate<\/a> \u200d at best.<\/p>\n<h3>DeSantis&#8217; Response<\/h3>\n<p>The DeSantis War Room swiftly responded to Newsom&#8217;s remarks, stating, &#8220;Americans know that DeSantis has succeeded where Newsom has failed.
