Version: 4.0.47--><h2>Washington Post Columnist Can&#8217;t Help but\u2062 Admit the Truth About Jack Smith&#8217;s Prosecution of Trump<\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Anyone with a shred of objectivity\u2063 and clear eyes should be able to see the current legal entanglements of former President \u200dDonald Trump \u200bfor what they \u200cactually are: \u200cpoliticized, spurious and weaponized charges meant \u2062to hamstring the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-durham-probe\/\" title=\"Everything You Need To Know About The Durham Probe\">chief political rival<\/a>\u2062 of the incumbent.<\/p>\n<p>Due in no small part to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-celebrates-appellate-courts-good-ruling-inside-nyc-courthouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murky legal footing<\/a> \u2062 his opponents\u2064 appear to be standing on, Trump\u2062 has \u2064thus far avoided the political \u201ckill shot\u201d that his\u2063 critics are so desperately\u2064 pining for.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2062 desperation is starting to\u2062 show, however, as \u2064even Biden\u2019s stalwart allies at The Washington Post are beginning to question the true agenda of special counsel Jack Smith.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Questioning the True Agenda<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Trump is facing a \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-grand-jury-makes-decision-trump-indictment-jan-6\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quartet of charges<\/a>, including conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct \u2063an \u2063official proceeding, obstruction \u200cof and attempt to obstruct \u200can official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.<\/li>\n<li>Smith has been relentlessly pursuing any way to catch Trump, even resorting to \u200dusing\u2064 his phone data from January\u2062 6th.<\/li>\n<li>The primary focus \u2064of Smith&#8217;s case \u2063is the charge that Trump attempted to illegally overturn the 2020 \u2064general \u200delection results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Post\u200d contributor Jason Willick \u2064penned a Tuesday opinion piece that all\u2064 but called out the naked biases of\u200b Smith \u2026 and it\u2019s about time.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2023\/12\/12\/special-counsel-jack-smith-politicized-prosecution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">opinion piece<\/a> titled \u2064\u201cPolitics are now clearly shaping Jack Smith\u2019s Trump prosecution,\u201d (again \u2026 duh), Willick\u2063 pointed out a pair of instances \u200cthat suggested the special counsel was beginning\u2063 to jump the shark.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Jumping the \u200dShark<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Willick highlights the vague laws being applied in untested ways in Smith&#8217;s case against Trump.<\/li>\n<li>Smith&#8217;s recent move to expedite the trial against Trump by taking a filing to the \u2062Supreme Court raises eyebrows.<\/li>\n<li>Smith&#8217;s \u200cactions \u2064suggest a political timetable is driving \u2064his prosecution of \u2064Trump.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Willick eventually \u2062concluded\u200d his piece with a sobering realization: \u201cThe special counsel is \u2063an \u200baggressive \u200cpolitical actor seeking a political \u2064outcome as much as a legal one.
