After former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ouch-kevin-mccarthy-mercilessly-torched-hometown-revealing-retirement-decision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced he is resigning<\/a> before the new year, that\u200b number \u200bis dropping to seven.<\/p>\n<p>A Democratic victory in the special\u200c election to replace\u2063 Santos, scheduled for Feb. 13, according to the AP, would bring it\u200b to six \u2014 220-214.
