Attending \u2064university meant becoming \u2064a leader\u2063 in one&#8217;s field and embracing \u200dthe values of society.<\/p>\n<p>However, the centralization\u2062 of an intellectual class led universities down two distinct \u2063paths: specialization in industry \u200cand\u2063 social \u200bexperimentation.
