Later, in 2021,\u2063 the policy center gave the group \u200b$565,000 to support policy advocacy on democracy reform and government accountability \u200cin Texas, according to its grant database.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The suspect behind the shootings, Shane \u200bJames, served as a U.S. Army infantry officer between February 2013 to August 2015.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2022, James \u200dwas charged with aggravated assault against his immediate family members but was bailed out\u200b by TOP\u2019s statewide \u2062policy coordinator, <a href=\"https:\/\/organizetexas.org\/staff\/laquita-garcia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laquita Garcia<\/a>, \u200dKSAT reported.<\/p>\n<p>He was arrested Tuesday and charged in four fatal shootings in Austin.
