Americans Witness \u200dHistoric \u200cMoment: Proposal for Illegal Aliens to Join the Military<\/h2>\n
Americans\u200d have just witnessed another historic moment<\/a>: not only a new \u2063record for \u200cthe \u2064most \u2064single-day \u2063border arrests ever made; or male,\u200b military-aged Chinese\u200c nationals \u2063illegally entering the\u2064 country through California and \u2062joining the espionage nodes known as Confucius \u2063Institutes and a Chinese Communist police\u2063 station in\u2064 New \u2062York City \u2014 but a\u200b proposal for these illegal\u200d aliens\u2062 to join\u2063 the military.<\/p>\n
The proposal last \u2063week was made not by some Twitter screecher or Ibram X. Kendi but by\u200c sitting Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin who, in a speech on the Senate floor, said:<\/p>\n

“Do you know \u200bwhat the \u2062recruiting numbers are at the Army, Navy, and the\u2064 Air Force?\u2062 They can\u2019t reach their quotas each month. They can\u2019t find \u200benough people to join \u2063our military forces. And there are those \u2064who are undocumented who want the chance to serve \u200dand risk their lives\u2062 for this country. Should we give them a chance? I think we should.”<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
The military recruitment lows are\u2063 not news. Funnily \u200denough, \u200cthat is what happens when you make it a point \u200bto drive away the people \u2063most likely to enlist and serve. There was Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin\u2019s stand-down \u200dorder to allow each branch to discuss the threat posed by white\u200c supremacy and similar extremism. And since \u201cwhite\u200c supremacy\u201d has become just another \u200dsponge term to\u2062 signify positions that oppose the plans of the left, a routing out of\u2064 white \u200bsupremacy\u200d meant the \u200cremoval of personnel with political beliefs anathema\u200b to the \u200cDemocrat regime.<\/p>\n
There was the second\u2063 purge, this\u200c time of personnel who \u2062refused to take\u2062 the \u2064Covid \u201cvaccine.\u201d There was\u200d the gayification of the military, which saw \u2064everything from recruitment\u200c ads to making\u2062 so-called transitioning soldiers undeployable for \u200balmost a year. There was\u200d the killing \u200cof meritocracy for \u2063the sake of \u2063DEI baloney. And then \u200cthere was\u200b the humiliation of the Afghanistan retreat (with the addition of financially\u2062 punishing soldiers\u200d whose crime was\u2064 following orders) \u200dand \u200dthe\u200c tease that the\u200c whole thing might \u200dbe \u2063repeated in Ukraine. When you tell \u200bpeople long enough \u2063that you don\u2019t want them, eventually, they will get the message.<\/p>\n
The recruitment shortage is a problem entirely of the\u2062 left\u2019s making, and now that the full consequences are in force, the same left is using \u2063the crisis \u200cas justification for not only weakening\u200c the military but also, potentially,\u200d attacking American citizens.<\/p>\n
Both weakness \u200dand potential danger come from the \u200csame source: the lack of assimilation. If immigration were \u200cconfined to legal channels and were manageable enough so that those coming into the country could actually melt into the melting pot, there would be no \u200cproblem.<\/p>\n
My own\u200c great-grandfather earned \u200bhis \u2063citizenship by enlisting in the Army and fighting under the American flag in WWI. But he and my great-grandmother both made conscious efforts to become Americans \u2063after they arrived on Ellis Island from Sicily.\u2064 They didn\u2019t just get jobs, work hard, and save.\u2064 They\u200b taught \u2063themselves English.\u200d They lived in an American neighborhood (not a Little Italy) \u200dand shopped at\u2063 American businesses (rather than Italian ones). They\u200c made \u200csure they were \u200cnot just Sicilians living in the\u2064 United States.<\/p>\n
But assimilation now is considered one\u2063 of the great evils of the white race<\/a> nothing \u200bmore \u200bthan a \u201cracist code word\u201d \u201charkening back to a time \u2064when citizenship was contingent \u200cupon whiteness,\u201d as if the 14th and 15th \u200dAmendments \u2064never \u200cexisted. America\u2019s race hustler de jour, the fraud\u2063 known as Ibram X. Kendi, <\/p>\n
What are the underlying issues causing<\/a> the decline in military recruitment, and how can they be effectively addressed?<\/h2>\n
\u200b Part in the controversial \u2064Critical Race Theory \u2063training. And then, of course, there is the pervasive culture of political correctness and\u200d woke ideology that has \u200cinfiltrated the military, leading many patriotic individuals to reconsider their aspirations of serving their country.<\/p>\n
But instead of addressing these underlying issues that have \u2064caused the decline in\u200b military recruitment, Senator Durbin suggests a solution\u2062 that undermines the rule of law and rewards individuals who\u200c have entered the country illegally. This proposal \u200csets\u2064 a dangerous precedent and sends a \u200dmessage that \u200bbreaking\u200b the law can \u2062be \u200brewarded rather than punished.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, it is concerning that Senator Durbin seems to prioritize the recruitment numbers \u2063over the qualifications and background of\u2063 potential military personnel. The military should be composed\u200b of individuals who are \u2064loyal, dedicated, and\u200d have\u2064 a \u2064strong sense of duty towards their country. Granting \u200dillegal aliens the opportunity to serve in the military without \u200cproper vetting and background checks compromises the integrity and security\u200b of the armed forces.<\/p>\n
Moreover, there are practical considerations to take\u200c into account \u2063when discussing the enlistment of\u200c illegal \u2062aliens.\u2064 Language barriers, cultural differences, and potential security risks<\/a> are just a few of the challenges \u200dthat would \u200barise from integrating \u2063individuals who are not \u2063legally authorized to be in the country into the military.<\/p>\n
It \u2063is also worth noting that \u200dthere are already pathways for non-citizens \u200bto join the military \u200blegally. The Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI) program allows \u200cnon-citizens with critical language and medical skills to enlist and \u2063receive \u2064expedited \u2062citizenship. \u200dThis program ensures that individuals \u200bwho \u200bjoin the military can contribute to national security in a \u2062meaningful way while still upholding the laws and regulations of immigration.<\/p>\n
Instead of proposing policies that incentivize illegal\u200d immigration, Senator Durbin \u2064and other lawmakers should focus \u2062on\u200b addressing the root causes of low military recruitment<\/a>.\u200b This includes\u2064 working towards a more inclusive and welcoming environment within the armed forces, promoting patriotism and a sense of\u2063 duty among American citizens, and implementing policies that improve the benefits and opportunities\u200d for those who choose to serve their country.<\/p>\n
