How\u200c could any American fail to be impressed by this?<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">  \u200dAllow us to reintroduce ourselves. We have a new look \u2063that we\u2019re excited to share with Americans from sea to shining sea. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/America250?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#America250<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Learn more about the meaning\u200c behind our new logo:\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wciCPutU9t\">https:\/\/t.co\/wciCPutU9t<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qBDHRwXEx7\">pic.twitter.com\/qBDHRwXEx7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 America250 (@America250) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/America250\/status\/1731675140868448667?\">December\u200c 4, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt feels like an early-round idea that should have gone through a couple\u200b more \u200d\u2026 \u200drefinements before \u2064it\u2062 saw \u2063the light of day,\u201d Ross Clugston, CCO of the New York-based firm Design Bridge \u2063and Partners, told \u2064Marketing Brew.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s putting it\u200c mildly.<\/p>\n<p>The \u200clogo, supposedly commemorating the birth of the country \u200bwith the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/providence-jefferson-adams-died-50th-anniversary-declaration-independence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Declaration of Independence<\/a> in 1776, doesn\u2019t look like an American flag beyond a color scheme that\u2019s not\u2063 even\u2062 correct.\u200c (Navy \u2062blue \u2062is AWOL \u2062in favor of some marketing\u200d monstrosity that\u2019s about\u2064 three shades\u200d too bright.)<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s \u2064not a \u200dstar in sight.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u200b weird, Mobius\u200c strip effect comes off more like some kind\u2063 of Christmas ribbon candy than \u200canything\u2063 to do with the\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/op-ed-founders-knew-price-purpose-freedom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Founders<\/a> or \u200cfreedom, or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/four-fascinating-coincidences-involving-presidents-lives-fourth-july\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fourth of July<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Compare \u2062that to the logo that branded the Bicentennial celebrations \u2062of\u200b 1976:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>That logo had the \u2064correct shade of blue and was \u200dcentered around a star.<\/p>\n<p>And while it had a certain \u201970s-era funkiness,\u200c the\u200c way\u2063 it was \u2064encircled with\u2062 the\u200b words \u201cAmerican Revolution Bicentennial: 1776-1976\u201d \u200cgave it a reverence worthy of the majesty\u2064 it\u200c honored.<\/p>\n<div id=\"in-article-related\" class=\"in-article-more inner-content\">\n<div class=\"in-article-more-label\">Related:<\/div>\n<div class=\"in-article-more-right\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/liberal-media-shrieks-fear-flag-outside-speaker-johnsons-office\/\" data-type=\"Internal link\" data-type-location=\"in-content-related\">Liberal \u200dMedia Shrieks in\u200d Fear Over Flag Outside Speaker \u200bJohnson&#8217;s Office<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Meanwhile, \u200cthe no-nonsense \u200csans serif \u200btext was as plain-spoken \u200dand \u200bpowerful \u200cas the immortal \u200dwords, \u201cWe hold these truths to be self-evident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There\u200d was,\u200b in short, no mistaking \u200dit for some kind of \u2063gas station promo \u200cor the uniform patch of the French gymnastics team.<\/p>\n<p>According \u2063to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/12\/04\/style\/america-250-anniversary-logo-design.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>, the logo\u2019s designer, Sagi Haviv, a partner in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/scotus-to-decide-if-colorado-can-force-christian-website-designer-to-work-with-same-sex-couples\/\" title=\"SCOTUS to Decide if Colorado Can Force Christian Website Designer to Work with Same-Sex Couples\u00a0\">design firm<\/a>\u2064 of the New York-based design firm Chermayeff\u200b &#038;\u2063 Geismar &#038; (It\u2019s an admittedly dwindling \u2063number, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-dominates-biden-clean-sweep-new-poll-key-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according \u200cto polls<\/a>, but they\u2019re out there.)<\/p>\n<p>If they can \u200dfind inspiration in Biden\u2019s meandering, dishonest, poorly delivered speeches, they can find inspiration \u200cin\u2063 some Euro-chic, effeminate mishmash of ribbon spelling out\u2064 the number \u201c250\u201d (if you look real hard).<\/p>\n<p>But the reality is, the\u200b logo\u2063 is about as\u200c inspiring as a Biden\u2063 speech \u2014 \u2063misguided, full\u2062 of distractions, and just plain\u200b hard\u2063 to take.<\/p>\n<p>There are still two years left before the semiquincentennial gets going\u200b for keeps. The\u2063 new\u2062 logo for the \u2064250th anniversary of the United States&#8217; founding has been met with\u200c mixed reviews, to say the least.<\/p>\n<p>Critics have not been shy in expressing \u200btheir disappointment with the design. \u200cRoss Clugston, CCO of Design Bridge and Partners, described the \u2062logo as an &#8220;early-round idea&#8221; \u2064that should have gone through \u200dfurther refinements. Many have pointed out that the design does not resemble an American flag, despite\u200b its intention to\u200d commemorate the birth of the country and the Declaration of Independence. The color scheme is also a source of contention, with the navy blue being replaced by a garishly bright \u200bshade.<\/p>\n<p>What \u200dis\u200d perhaps most notable\u2064 is the absence \u2062of stars in\u200d the design. Stars have long\u2063 been associated with the\u200d United States, symbolizing the unity and hope of\u2063 the nation. Yet, they \u200dare nowhere to be\u200d found in this \u2063logo. \u200bInstead, what is\u2064 supposed to be a patriotic emblem comes \u2062off as a mere \u200cChristmas ribbon candy. It \u200dlacks \u200bthe\u2062 gravitas and reverence that one would expect from a logo representing the birth of \u200ca nation \u2062and\u2062 the ideals of \u200dfreedom.<\/p>\n<p>In comparison, the logo\u200b used for the Bicentennial celebrations in 1976 is a stark contrast. It features \u2064the correct \u2063shade of\u200c blue and prominently displays a star. The surrounding text, &#8220;American Revolution Bicentennial:\u200d 1776-1976,&#8221; adds \u2062to its significance and gives it a sense of grandeur.<\/p>\n<p>The designer of \u200dthe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/woke-german-city-may-drop-historic-cathedral-from-city-logo\/\" title=\"Woke German City May Drop Historic Cathedral from City Logo\">current logo<\/a>, Sagi Haviv, defended \u2062his creation by calling the ribbon\u200b design &#8220;an impossible\u2063 construction.&#8221;\u200b He believes that it symbolizes the \u2063difficulty of bringing people together but ultimately produces\u200d something beautiful.\u200b While \u2063his interpretation\u2062 may hold some merit, it\u2064 seems that many\u200c Americans would \u2063prefer a \u2062design \u200dthat is more\u2063 indicative of their shared\u200c values and history.<\/p>\n<p>As the 250th anniversary celebrations approach, it is worth considering the importance of \u2062a logo in representing the spirit of a nation. \u2064A logo \u2062should \u2063evoke a sense of\u2063 pride, unity, and reverence for\u200d the past.
