The research found that\u2063 warm, responsive, and rule-bound parenting had the best \u200bresults, while political\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/A9ZDPQhjof\">https:\/\/t.co\/A9ZDPQhjof<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 \u200dThe America One News \u2062(@am1_news) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/am1_news\/status\/1733245363069587962?\">December 8, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Lead researcher Jonathan Rothwell wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/ifstudies.org\/blog\/parenting-is-the-key-to-adolescent-mental-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog post<\/a> \u200b for the Institute of Family Studies that the quality of \u200cparent-child relationships and \u200bparenting approaches affected a teen\u2019s mental health regardless of demographics like income, education level, or race.<\/p>\n<p>Positive practices like \u2063displaying warmth while setting rules and boundaries\u2064 were most closely linked to lower rates of \u200cpoor mental health \u200bsymptoms among \u200cadolescents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIncome doesn\u2019t buy better parenting, and more highly\u2064 educated\u2062 parents do\u2063 not score better, either. Parenting style and relationship quality also do not meaningfully vary by race and ethnicity,\u201d Rothwell wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs it happens, being raised by liberal parents is a much larger risk factor for mental health problems in adolescence than being raised in a low-income household with parents who did \u200cnot attend college,\u201d Rothwell concluded in the November report.<\/p>\n<p>There were a couple of factors that, according to the research, did predict a higher \u2062probability of \u200bhaving a \u2064child with good mental health \u2014 politics and marriage.<\/p>\n<p>Conservative \u200dand very conservative parents were most likely to\u200d employ effective \u2064parenting strategies\u2064 tied to\u2063 better <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/children-with-liberal-parents-more-likely-to-suffer-mental-health-problems-study\/\" title=\"Study finds higher rates of mental health problems in children of liberal parents\">mental \u200chealth outcomes<\/a> for teens. These parents tended to enforce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/major-liberal-city-set-discipline-students-based-race-gender-identity-restorative-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">discipline<\/a> \u200bwhile also expressing affection and meeting their children\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n<p>Rothwell wrote in his blog post that in contrast to liberal parents, \u201cconservative\u2064 parents enjoy higher quality \u2062relationships with their children, characterized by\u2062 fewer arguments, more warmth, and a stronger bond, according to both parent and child reporting.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Shocker. Living \u200bby time-tested values \u2062results in greater happiness and a more\u200b fulfilling life.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rochelle Wentz (@rochellewentz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rochellewentz\/status\/1732923224701186097?\">December\u200b 8, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The \u200bsecond contributing\u2062 factor \u2064to the good mental health\u200c of a child was, no surprise, marriage.<\/p>\n<p>Parents with more\u200c positive perspectives on \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/many-women-misunderstand-biblical-submission-marriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">marriage<\/a> as an institution, who \u2062felt it\u200d improves commitment in relationships and wished for their own children to someday wed, were more effective \u2063parents overall. Embracing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/police-officer-resigns-facebook-post-traditional-marriage-landed-leave\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">traditional marital values<\/a> across those factors was linked to \u2063superior parenting and higher-quality parent-teen relationships.<\/p>\n<p>Rothwell\u200b pointed out that \u201csolutions proposed by organizations like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cdc-draws-heat-erasing-women-pregnant-people-adopting-gender-neutral-terms-health-guidance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CDC<\/a> and the American Academy of Pediatrics\u2014such as increased funding for diagnostic\u200d and psychiatric services have not met \u2063the\u2064 surging mental health and suicide issues among adolescents.\u201d Meanwhile, they continue to ignore one of the \u200cmost important causes.<\/p>\n<p>Since\u2063 Dr. Benjamin Spock\u2019s Common Sense Book of Baby and Child Care came out in 1946, more parents began turning away from their\u200d own families and the Word of God and to current psychology for help in raising their \u200dkids.<\/p>\n<p>What has resulted is what leading voices in mental \u200chealth\u2063 have referred to as a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edweek.org\/leadership\/why-america-has-a-youth-mental-health-crisis-and-how-schools-can-help\/2023\/10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Youth Mental Health Crisis.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, psychologists continue to \u200bpush \u200ceverything \u2064from \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/chinese-manufactured-prescription-drugs-threatening-health-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prescription drugs<\/a> \u200dto theories about socioeconomic \u200dequity \u2062and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/op-ed-liberals-gender-confusion-couldve-cleared-mr-rogers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gender confusion.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When will the scientific community admit that their\u2063 theories were wrong and accept that rules, discipline, and unconditional love are still the best way to raise kids who know who they are and\u200d are content with it?<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>The post <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/conservative-parents-raise-teens-better-mental-health-study\/\">Conservative Parents\u200d Raise Teens with Better \u2063Mental Health: Study<\/a> \u2063appeared\u200b first on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\">The Western Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> Is there\u200d a difference in parenting style and relationship quality based on income, education level, or race?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  Een relationships.<\/p>\n<p>The findings of this study\u2064 are consistent\u2063 with previous research that has shown the importance of parenting style and\u200b parent-child relationships in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-in-congress-praise-parent-revolution-fighting-back-against-school-mandates\/\" title=\"Republicans in Congress Praise \u2018Parent Revolution\u2019 Fighting Back Against School Mandates\">adolescent mental health<\/a>.\u200b The authoritative style of parenting, characterized\u2064 by warmth and affection combined with consistent discipline and setting of boundaries,\u2064 has consistently been associated with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/researcher-debunks-claim-trans-youths-mental-health-improves-with-gender-affirming-care\/\" title=\"Researcher Debunks Claim Trans Youth\u2019s Mental Health Improves With \u2018Gender Affirming\u2019 Care\">positive mental health outcomes<\/a> in children.<\/p>\n<p>It \u200bis worth noting that this study did not find a significant difference in parenting style or relationship quality based on\u2063 income, education level, \u200bor\u200c race. This highlights the importance of stable family structures and the role of parents as role models for their \u2062children.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that this study does not imply that all conservative parents raise mentally healthy teens, nor does \u2062it suggest that all liberal parents\u200b are ineffective in their parenting. Parenting is a complex and multifaceted \u200dprocess influenced by a variety of factors. However, this\u200d study provides \u200dvaluable insights into the potential impact of parenting style and values on adolescent \u2064mental health.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, this study confirms what many \u2064conservatives have long believed &#8211; that conservative parenting practices, characterized\u200b by discipline, warmth, and a focus on traditional values, contribute to better mental health outcomes for \u2063teens.\u2063 It also \u2062emphasizes the significance of stable family structures and positive attitudes towards marriage.
