Dean Phillips\u200b Takes on DNC\u2063 and\u200d State Parties to Secure Ballot Access<\/h2>\n<p>Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), the Democratic contender who \u2063has dared to challenge President Joe Biden in the primary, is not\u2062 backing down. In a bold move, Phillips is filing challenges against the Democratic\u200b National\u2063 Committee (DNC) and state parties in order to secure his spot \u200con the ballot in several states.<\/p>\n<p>This underdog candidate found himself excluded from the ballot in Tennessee, Florida,\u2063 and North \u200dCarolina after launching his presidential bid at the end of October. Unfortunately, Phillips entered the race just before some state primaries&#8217; candidate deadlines, which extend \u2064into 2023 and early 2024. The deadlines for \u2064the highly anticipated Super Tuesday \u200dcontests on March 5,\u2064 2024, fall in November and December.<\/p>\n<h3>Phillips Fights for \u2064Democracy and Voter Rights<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cUnilaterally taking away the\u200b right of rank-and-file Democrats, including a disproportionate number of Black voters demanding a more\u200d affordable America, is reprehensible,\u201d Phillips passionately stated in a statement to Semafor. \u201cIf Joe Biden is the\u200c best candidate to defeat Donald Trump and lead us to a safer, \u2063more affordable future, let him compete for that privilege without \u200chis supporters \u200csuppressing and disenfranchising millions of voters.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Phillips did not \u2064hold back in his criticism of the \u2062Florida Democratic\u2064 Party, which\u2064 approved Biden\u2062 as the sole candidate\u200b and canceled \u2062its March 19 primary. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-are-the-real-threat-to-democracy-just-ask-the-green-party\/\" title=\"Democrats Are The Real Threat To Democracy \u2014 Just Ask The Green Party\">party submitted<\/a>\u200d a list of recognized candidates at the state convention, held from October 27 to \u200dOctober 29, and\u2063 decided not\u2063 to hold primary contests if a candidate \u200bwas running unopposed. Unfortunately, Phillips had already launched his\u200c campaign before the finalization of the candidate list.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAmericans would expect the absence of democracy in Tehran, not Tallahassee,\u201d Phillips exclaimed. \u201cThe Florida Democratic Party\u2019s intentional disenfranchisement of voters runs \u2064counter to everything for which our Democratic Party and country stand. Our mission as Democrats is to defeat authoritarians, not become\u200c them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Florida Democrats defended their actions, stating that \u200dthey followed the standard process \u200bfor nominating candidates and had done the\u2062 same in October 2019\u200b for the 2020 election. Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Nikki\u200c Fried criticized Phillips for his comments, calling them conspiratorial and inappropriate.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2064Tennessee, Phillips took the necessary steps to\u200c gain access to the primary\u200d ballot by submitting \u2064over 3,000 signatures. The\u2062 state requires candidates to file at least 2,500 signatures no later than December 5 in order to appear on the ballot. While the secretary\u2062 of state initially released documents showing only \u2063Biden&#8217;s name on \u200cthe ballot, Phillips&#8217;s signatures are currently under review.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, in North Carolina, the Democratic \u2064Party \u2062Chairman listed Biden as \u2062the sole candidate \u2063to appear on the primary ballot in a letter\u200c to the state \u200dboard of elections.
