Professor Cha Jan Chang,\u2062 known as &#8220;Jerry,&#8221; 64, and\u2062 assistant professor Patricia Navarro Velez, 39, were confirmed as victims \u200dby the Clark County Office of the Coroner\/Medical Examiner. The \u200cname of the third victim, also a faculty member, \u200cwill not\u2064 be released until \u2064their next of kin is notified.<\/p>\n<h3>Deepest Condolences to the\u200c Families<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;On behalf of the \u2063office, \u200dour deepest condolences to the families of the victims \u200dand those impacted by this\u2062 tragic event,&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>the coroner&#8217;s office said in a statement.<\/p>\n<h3>Contributions of the Victims<\/h3>\n<p>Chang had been teaching at UNLV since 2001, most\u200d recently at the Lee Business School. He was a\u200d professor in the university&#8217;s business department, teaching management information\u200d systems. Navarro Velez\u2064 worked in the \u2064accounting department at the university and had a Ph.D. in accounting.\u2062 She was researching cybersecurity disclosures and assurance, internal control weakness\u2064 disclosure, and data analytics.<\/p>\n<h3>Cause of Death \u2062and Injured Victim<\/h3>\n<p>The cause of death for Chang was a gunshot wound to the head, \u200band the cause of death for Navarro Velez was multiple \u2064gunshot wounds.
