This comes \u200cone \u200dmonth after Adams abruptly left the \u200dcapital due to an \u200cFBI inquiry into his campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Adams\u2064 is scheduled to sit down with Senate \u2064Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and\u200b House \u200bMinority Leader \u200dHakeem Jeffries (D-NY) during his visit. However, there is no confirmation of a meeting \u2063with the\u2063 White House at this \u2062time. He is also expected to meet with \u200dFederal Emergency Management Agency Director Deanne Criswell, according to NBC\u2063 News.<\/p>\n<h3>Seeking Federal Assistance for the Migrant \u2063Crisis<\/h3>\n<p>The purpose \u2062of Adams&#8217; trip \u200cis to secure\u200d more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-emergency-declared-in-texas-amidst-severe-winter-weather\/\" title=\"Federal Emergency Declared In Texas Amidst Severe Winter Weather\">federal assistance<\/a> \u2064for the city&#8217;s migrant crisis,\u2064 particularly in\u200c terms of \u2062housing and caring for the immigrants. Adams\u200b estimates that\u2064 the crisis will \u200bcost the city $12 billion by 2025 if \u2062the \u200cinflux of immigrants continues. Since the spring of \u200d2022,\u2064 New York\u200c City has\u200b received over 125,000 immigrants.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The goal is to constantly go there, \u2064be \u2062front and center, and raise\u200b the concerns of how this is impacting our city. And \u2063that&#8217;s \u200cthe goal,&#8221; Adams\u200c stated during a press conference on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>This trip marks Adams&#8217; 10th\u200d visit to Washington to address the crisis. Previously, he had to abruptly leave \u200cbefore any meetings with the White House or Congress took place due to the federal inquiry.<\/p>\n<h3>Pushing for Funding\u2064 for Sanctuary \u2062Cities<\/h3>\n<p>Originally, Adams was expected to join other\u200d mayors \u2064in\u200b discussing the larger migrant \u2064crisis affecting &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">sanctuary cities<\/a>&#8221; and \u200bto secure $5 \u2063billion in federal assistance. While the\u200d White House has only requested $1.4\u200c billion\u200d from Congress for the\u200b crisis, they have expressed commitment to helping sanctuary cities obtain funding.<\/p>\n<p>Adams has also criticized FEMA for its insufficient funding in the past. Earlier this year, the federal \u200cemergency program allocated $30 million to New York City\u2063 for immigrant\u2063 support. However, Adams \u2062argued that this \u2062amount was inadequate considering \u200cthe scale of the crisis in comparison to other cities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;FEMA allocated out of the $350 million, only \u200d$30 million went to New York City. So \u200cwe \u200dreceived\u2062 the\u200b large sum of migrants \u200din our city, but we&#8217;re not getting \u200cthe funding to match,&#8221; Adams \u200cexpressed during an interview with MSNBC in May. &#8220;The plan on our bordering states is \u200dsimply\u2064 to use the money from FEMA to bus migrants to New York City.
