Richmond made\u2064 history on October\u2063 25th by becoming the \u200cfirst U.S. \u2064city to \u200bcall for a ceasefire and \u200bhumanitarian\u200c aid to Gaza.\u200c The City Council voted 5-1 in favor of the resolution, expressing support for Palestinians and \u2063accusing Israel of &#8220;ethnic cleansing&#8221; and &#8220;collective punishment.&#8221; They also demanded\u200b an end to Israeli apartheid and the occupation and blockade of\u2062 Palestinian land.<\/p>\n<p>The Oakland City\u2064 Council unanimously voted for a ceasefire on November \u200c27th, \u2063echoing the call for the\u2063 release of hostages and unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p>However, not all progressive cities have followed suit.
