She immediately rushed back home to \u2064her\u2062 mother, filled with disbelief and fear.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2062 asked my mom, is that even allowed?\u201d Emma recounted to The Daily Wire. \u201cAre they, like, really catching children?\u2063 She said, yes, and I felt very, very scared.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Emma&#8217;s mother, Elana Katzor, grew up in \u2064Massachusetts but moved to Israel to\u200b raise her kids.\u200c With her husband away serving as a\u200b reservist in the Israeli \u200cDefense Forces since Hamas&#8217; brutal October 7 attack, Elana found herself alone with her \u200cthree young children,\u2063 all while being pregnant.<\/p>\n<p>Dealing with \u2063the\u200b war \u2063has turned Elana&#8217;s\u2063 parenting philosophy \u200dupside down as she \u200dgrapples with what\u200c information to\u2064 share with her children.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t lie to my children \u2014 I\u200b am of the \u2062belief that information doesn\u2019t scare children,\u2062 but\u2062 the lack\u200d of information scares\u2062 children,\u201d Katzor said.\u200c \u201cI didn\u2019t mention the\u2064 kidnappings because they didn\u2019t ask me.\u2064 And then all \u200cof a \u200bsudden the posters started\u2062 showing up.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Emma can&#8217;t help but imagine what it would be like if she were taken \u200chostage herself, and whether \u2062the children held by Hamas are being taken care of.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cDo they have \u200cdiapers, shampoo? Do they have\u200b clothes? Do they\u2063 have supplies? Do \u200bthey have a house?\u201d she asked. \u201cIt\u2019s just very scary.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Being alone with her three young children\u2064 has been incredibly\u200b challenging for Elana. \u200cShe believes that the \u200dtiming of\u200b Hamas\u200c rocket launches, often occurring at seven, eight, and nine \u200bat night, is a form of psychological warfare against children.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOur freedom of \u200cmovement has been stressful,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t drive anymore \u2062because I\u2019m scared that I\u2019m with\u2062 three kids, I\u2019m pregnant, \u2063there\u2019s a siren, I \u200chave to pull over to the \u2062side\u200b of the road. I have \u200dto manage to \u2064get three kids\u200c out of\u2064 the car\u2063 on \u2062a\u2063 highway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also tends to happen in the evenings right before bedtime,\u201d \u200cElana said. \u201cBedtime is more scary\u2062 and it\u2019s their way of terrorizing us.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_658173\" style=\"width: 630px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-658173\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Emma said she was \u200bscared when she saw \u200cthe posters \u2062of child hostages and had\u2062 to ask her\u2062 mom if they were real. (Photo by Kassy Dillon)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Katzor has had to plan her daily routine\u200c around the possibility of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/state-dept-launches-probe-into-deadly-erbil-rocket-attack\/\" title=\"State Dept. launches probe into deadly Erbil rocket attack\">rocket attack<\/a>, even\u2062 showering late at night when \u200crockets\u200b are less\u200c likely to occur.<\/p>\n<p>Despite her fear, Emma\u2064 tries to stay calm\u2063 for her little sister \u200din the face of the rocket attacks.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI say that it\u2019s okay and that we\u2019re winning and that we have a strong army and that we \u2062have\u200b a\u200b mother \u2064here,\u201d she \u200bsaid. \u201cThat\u2019s to make her feel\u200b like\u200d everything \u2064is okay.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Although Elana&#8217;s husband has been \u2062able to\u2064 come home for short \u2063visits and make frequent video calls, Emma admits that\u200c she struggles\u2064 without her father around. At school, she \u200dwrites letters with pictures for the soldiers.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cDear soldiers, \u200cI\u200c hope \u200cyou come back with\u200b peace and I hope there is not \u2062going\u200c to be \u200bhurt people, like people who broke\u2063 their arm \u200bor their leg,\u201d Emma said she wrote in one letter. \u201cI just hope that you have \u2062a good Shabbat.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> How does Elana Katzor\u2062 navigate \u200bthe challenge of being honest with her children about the war \u2064while also protecting their \u200dinnocence?<\/h2>\n<p><span>  As the war between \u2063Israel and \u200dHamas\u200c rages on, families across the country \u2063are grappling with the realities of living in \u2062a mobilized nation. For the Katzor family, this struggle hits particularly close to home.<\/p>\n<p>Nine-year-old \u200bEmma Katzor was shocked and\u200b terrified when she first saw the hostage posters featuring Israeli children. \u200cShe immediately sought solace\u2064 in her\u2063 mother, Elana Katzor, desperate for reassurance. Emma asked her mother if it was even allowed\u200b for children to be caught in such a manner, to which Elana had\u2063 to confirm the\u2062 harsh\u2063 reality. Emma recounted to The Daily\u2062 Wire, &#8220;I asked my mom, is that even allowed? Are they, like, really catching children? She said, yes, and I felt very, very scared.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Elana Katzor, originally from Massachusetts, made\u200b the decision to move to Israel in order to raise her\u2063 children in the country of their heritage. Elana\u2062 firmly believes in being honest with her children, as \u2062she believes \u2063that it is the\u200b lack \u200bof information that truly scares them. She \u200dexplains, &#8220;I didn&#8217;t mention the kidnappings because they didn&#8217;t \u2062ask me. And then all\u200c of \u200da sudden the posters started showing up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Emma, on the other hand, cannot help\u2062 but \u200bimagine what\u200d it would be like if she were taken hostage herself. She wonders about the well-being of the children held by Hamas, questioning if they have proper care, diapers, shampoo, clothing, and supplies. Emma&#8217;s concerns are grounded in the fear and uncertainty that come with living in the midst\u2063 of a warzone. She says,\u200c &#8220;Do they have diapers,\u200d shampoo? \u2062Do they have clothes? Do they have\u200c supplies? Do they have a house? It&#8217;s \u2064just very scary.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Katzor \u200dfamily is just \u200done example of the countless Israeli\u200c families struggling to navigate through the difficulties of living in a country mobilized for war against Hamas.
